The Supernatural One needs to forget about Bernard Hopkins, it's a waste of a fight.

Me too, but I have a feeling you'd be rooting for Bernard...

Damn, if somehow Bernard scored a win over Joe, it'd land him a possible top 15 spot or more. I believe the acclaim is what Hopkins fans are after, even if unrealistic.

I agree with you Amsterdam as far as pure fight fans fights, but Joe has more than earned the humongous pay day and I have little doubt he would beat old Bernard at this point in their careers. I really want to see Calzaghe vs. Dawson. That would a be one hell of a fight IMO.

I would actually be rooting for Calzaghe believe it or not:lol:

Bernard has established himself as an ATG - both with his resume and ability. A loss doesn't hurt him as much as it would hurt Calzaghe. And Calzaghe isn't considered an ATG yet in terms of resume, although ability-wise, he is among the best I've ever seen. I'd like to see him get respect with a win over an ATG in America to put the icing on the cake.

But you're absolutely right about a Hopkins win. It would be amazing for his placing among the greats!

P4P was originally devised as to who's the best regardless of weight class.

So, if everyone was the same size, I'd realistically out of the current entiriety of boxing crop only pick Floyd Mayweather Jr. over Joe, and that would be an 8-4 win. The other closest would be Dawson and Cristian Mijares. Mijares is God of course, but would be suckered into Joe's fight and that would spell the end, Mijares however certainly has the ability to beat Joe. Joe is too crafty for Guzman and Cotto is a pressure guy... a pressure/swarmer against Joe is at the ultimate stylistic disadvantage.

Calderon gets badly outworked IMO, Pac ripped to shreds due to styles, JMM beaten just like Kessler was(these two are comparable IMO), Hopkins loses as we have agreed.

So basically Floyd, that's why I have Joe at #2 just like you. He's one of the most complete fighters to ever grace the ring, let's hope the last couple of fights are meaningful.

Everyone is saying, "his last couple of fights" - why can't he fight six? Why can't he fight until he's 38, 39? He looked YOUNG last nights.

Not technically, even asked Brooklyn, who I sent a vid of Calzaghe-Mitchell too, Joe was easily 1.5 as quick and Brooklyn agreed that the guy who fought Mitchell fighting in a more tactical gameplan would have stopped both Lacy and Kessler.

He has hand problems, he's declining quickly and he has stated he wants 3 more max.

Though, maybe the money and acclaim will keep our guy around. I want him to fight the BEST, and I want him to remain undefeated in beating the very best he can get, not get shot overnight and lose to some average guy.

Calzaghe should fight 3 more fights in this order.....

    1.Hopkins

    2.Woods

    3.Dawson....

Dawson last,so he(Dawson)can build more exposure and experience, for a true career ending/defining fight for Calzaghe.

I know McGrain, I wish Joe could be around for a few more years also and get to 50-0 with more masterful performances and great fights...:|

Realistically, this is what I want Calzaghe to do to finish off his career...

    1. Bernard Hopkins at Madison Square Garden
    2. Chad Dawson in Las Vegas
    3. Clinton Woods in Cardiff before his hometown fans

    Retire 47-0
Held WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, and RING belts at 168
Held WBC, IBF, and RING belts at 175
    Defeat at ATG
Defeat potential greats in Kessler and Dawson
    Become an ATG himself

I think that would be the perfect way to cap off a brilliant career. The only fight I would be worried about is the Dawson fight because Dawson can only get better.

Calzaghe will never fight Bute. The risk is too high...

calzaghe needs the hopkins fight to crack the top 2 p4p. he needs to win against a top 10 elite p4p fighter to enhance his resume. kessler may be A-level but he is still not in the top 10 and neither are those other guys.

Totally agree. A fight with Borenard proves nothing. It's a fight almost imposible for Calzaghe to lose. I'd go with Woods and Dawson,in that order

Dawson is going to kick ass and take names these next few years. He just needs to build up his image.
