SO many losers in this thread. .

Go look at Spence and wish your Kovalev could be more like him.. His answer for Brooks clinching was to rip his arms free and batter Brook to the head and body on the inside.
He was going to work even when he had only one arm free - and against a bigger guy who had no business being at welter.

Oh but poor big bad mightly Kursher.. He couldn't handle a smaller guy coming up in weight.. Its all Wards fault wah wah wah:crybaby2::crybaby2::crybaby2:

Nothing Ward was doing prevented Kovalev from doing the same back to him. He just isn't tapped into all accepts of the sport like Ward or Spence.
Ask why your guy surrendered in the wheel house instead of fighting back.

well Ward sued his former promoter, Dan Goossen (former promoter of Michael Nunn and Terry Norris, among others); about a year later, quite a few months after the litigation had begun, but certain before while it was still in progress, Goossen died of liver cancer

i never heard a single coherent argument for why Ward should be allowed to void his contract with Goossen.

Ward wanted out of the contract after arbitration panel ruled that the contract between the two ought to be extended for 14 months to account for the period during which Ward was inactive due to injury. The contract at issue was actually the second between the two; the first ended in 2011, then Ward re-signed with Goossen that same year for a period of three years and received a $550,000 bonus on signing.

Ward's lawyers made just about every argument imagineable--eg, the contract period was too long, it was unfair, etc. This brief statement during his interview with RingTV about the litigation should give you some idea of his perspective:

When Floyd Mayweather felt like there was a market for African American fighters,
he was told he was crazy. He got out of contract and Floyd Mayweather is doing OK
right now. They’ve been calling Bernard Hopkins crazy for the past 20 years
for the decisions that he’s been making.

every court and artibration panel that heard this dispute sided against Ward

This is such a **** post from the yet sentence onwards. All Ward proved was that he could survive adversity and that his nationality was enough to ensure he got the nod against a dominant opponent that jay didn't batter him to pillar for post for 12 rounds solid.

Only after Ward had James Prince threaten the Goosen family.

In fairness I do not know if Ward told him to do that but I am certain he knew about it at the very least. I do not even care about those scummy Goosens either. Former San Fernando Valley coke dealers who bankrupted everyone who went into business with them.

The only thing missing from this was the referee giving him an eight count.

thats as nice a name I've ever heard anyone call him but it fits doesn't it?
One of the plonkers ploys in big fights(I say that cause in the tune ups he chose to box beautifully without any stink fest stuff)as well as lunging straight in with his head which never gets punished from the ref his other thing to catch the eyes of the judges is what you're referring to here in that he always has to have the last punch even if it's meaningless,I bet he's murder to argue with lol?
There's another thing he does which to my mind is unique to SOB and I'm quite sure it's illegal he dips his head below the belt line of his opponent,I suppose I'm being picky as against a big puncher a coach would tell you to do all you can to avoid em but as a spectacle again it's stinkeroo stuff as he dips, maybe throws a jab to the body and then comes up with his head to initiate the clinch and against Kovalev he grabbed hold of his legs I don't how many times as well as holding Kovalevs arm locking up.
My opinion is that he's found a way to win big fights fighting this way and because he's the golden boy literally the refs and judges obviously favour him,it may seem like I'm hating on Ward but I really think he's better than this and as for why the media did an about turn on the name of the fight"pound for pound King" and thus naming him he only has to look to himself as he can keep on calling himself the smartest, skillful boxer till he's blue in the face and asking all the reporters who thought Kovalev won ect but at the end of the day he's not gonna kid the fans, nobody cares if he's Jesus brother, nobody cares how nice he comes across cause Floyd was a total s*** bag and yet the fans payed to see him,all we care about is watching good boxing or good punchers,I'm afraid his wrestling tactics and General stinkeroo tactics when fans are asked to pay to watch is probably the reason why he doesn't get the love.
If Ward comes out against Kovalev and boxes well and wins then I'll be the first to say fair play followed by "about time"lol

i think everyone feels that if Ward can survive the first five rounds then he's got in the bag,bit strange wasn't it I mean Golovkin was still dangerous till the end against Jacobs and was it round ten where he visibily rocked him,SK on the other hand clearly lost his power.
At his range Kovalev is something else but I have to say regardless of Wards spoiling how Kovalev had no other means of attack,it all made sense at the interview at the end, instead of the Krusher he said he came her to show everyone he could box and he did show that but as soon as Ward went full stinkeroo he should of tried something else as appose to feinting, probing and looking for openings, see the fight back round by round punch by punch and he still did enough to win which was a shame but where was the Kovalev that caught Hopkins jumping in,too much respect maybe.
Great fight all the same, not a Ward fan but I had to respect how he got up and took it to Kovalev.

lol saw the title and thought it was 10 years ago when ESB made threads scruntinizing and dissecting the effectiveness/ineffectiveness of a fighters style.

Instead I got the typical millennial whine fest. SK will have his chance to redeem his crusher status soon until then we are going to have to deal with the fact that after his early success he looked desperate and confused trying to repeat what he accomplished in the second round. I still can't for the life of me understand why people can't get over it....i just hope we can have a definitive winner next week.

absolutely, that was one of the bravest, impressive things I've seen in a while,I bet everyone thought Ward was a gonna after round two and to be honest his body language didn't look all that great either which shows what a great game face he has cause it seemed to have an effect on Kovalev like "why is he still here"?champions seem to thrive off these moments and from round three it just changed around.
It was one of those fights like DeGale and Jack I thought in that it was harsh to take SKs belts off him and it would of been best if both came into the rematch undecided,I just think the judges had the blinkers on in every close round, there's a good YouTube vid that's been cut to scoring punches that shows even late on Kovalev did some great work.

I enjoy boxing. I don't watch boxing for excitement. It cause and effect. I watch for the skill. Dick riders only care about the fighters that they like. You're just giving us your opinion lmao... But why would anyone listen to you when you're a **** gobbling Kov fan lmao?
