whats cowardly about punching someone in a boxing fight?

are you seriously trying to contrive the excuse that vitali wouldnt have lost to lewis IF lewis wasnt punching him?

Sure, Vitali beats anyone if they arent allowed to hit him!

I think you know your boxing but troll on here slating Lewis and biggin Tyson up. We all have our faves and fighters we don't like and often posts lean heavily towards our favourite fighters (something I'm guilty of with Lewis, Hamed and Benn) however.. My point was if they had gone out for round 7 Lewis would have been hitting a semi blind man with punches he could not see, defend against, set his body for, or avoid. A big puncher landing clean on a blind target could have catastrophic effects... Do you agree? If so you have to agree the stoppage was correct..

A fighter who is dead tired, has no gas left is not going to be punching with any real force whereas Vitali even if he couldn't see out of that eye at all had enough energy left to carry on fighting.

The stoppage was correct. In fact, the cut was so bad that it should have been stopped earlier.

However, Lewis did not act like a winner after the fight. Vitali took over the ring and Lennox shrunk. It was embarrassing. Lewis should have given him a rematch in the name of pride. I think in better shape he would've won, which would have been a better note to end on.

Lewis was extremely defensive and showed the body language of a man who knew he lost the fight deep down.

A constructive argument can be made about Lewis being masterfully match maked where he faced his main competitors Tyson and Holyfield when they were finished in boxing terms. He struggled against a past prime Ray Mercer. Tommy Morrison was past his prime when he faced him. Half his resume is filled with Tyson left overs and Tyson gets criticized for a poor resume.

He's doing quite fine in life.

More to the point how are you coping with The Lions win? Almost a decade and a half later it still causes you immense pain and suffering.

Lewis was not doing anything else except Targetting that eye because he desperately wanted the fight stopped because of that cut, he did not try to punch Vitali in the nose, chin, face in an honest attempt to knock him out and just purely tried to get the fight stopped on cuts, he was willing to permanently blind Vitali for Life out of his desperation to avoid a loss.
