Nah, Boxing is a great sport. It is possible to win fights without being inhuman

Fact is Lewis ran away from the rematch and he deserves to be judged negatively for it because real warriors don't run away

I'm afraid that you will find yourself in a very small, dare I say, tiny, minority on this one.

Targetting cuts is a time - honoured tactic in boxing and it's never been illegal. While I think Lewis got lucky in causing the cut, he was smart to target it. I can't criticize him for this because I would 100% have done it myself.

What he can be criticized for is avoiding the rematch especially after talking up a storm.

Lewis had KO power, he should have tried to focus on KO'ing Vitali targeting the mouth/nose/chin area. By targetting that cut so close to the eye, he was willing to permanently blind the opponent for the sake of winning a boxing match which proved his inhumanity.

Fact is Vits got a shot at a bloated , unprepared , old and inactive Lewis and he BLEW it.

Lewis was not obligated to give him a second chance if he felt his best days were behind him. He got the chance and he blew it!!

Ok so if Lewis was a light hitter it would have been ok?

Lewis was not unprepared. He claims he had been doing regular training for Kirk Johnson and then claims he had only 2 weeks for Vitali, Vitali only got 2 weeks notice that he had to fight whereas Lewis was preparing for a boxing match much longer so that in essence is advantage Lewis in itself. Vitali didn't blow anything which was evidenced by the reception the crowd gave him which jeered Lewis at the end of the bout.

No body is talking about what Lewis was obligated to do or not to do, Lewis ran away from the rematch and that is a fact and that is a fact he will be judged by for eternity.

Vitali was preparing to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard of Lewis's fight with Kirk Johnson when Johnson pulled out injured. They both took the fight at two weeks notice and they both had the opportunity to have full camps prior to the fight whether they took advantage of that opportunity or not.

There is no legitimate case that can be made to excuse Vitali coming up short that night on a lack of preparation time. He had exactly the same amount of time to get himself ready for that fight as Lewis did.

If memory serves Lewis had to grab the mic from a 80 something Larry Merchant during the interview.

But Lewis camp alleges Vitali had more time than Lewis to prepare which is rubbish.

Right. Vitali had an easy 10 round match scheduled. 10 rounds, not 12 and it wasn't going 5.

Lewis was preparing to go 12 vs. a much better opponent.

So who has the edge? Lewis of course.

Anyone in boxing will tell you a fighter who knows in advance he's getting a title shot trains a bit harder. Vitali did not get that chance. He actually had a small cut under an eye for the photos, so my guess is the sparring he did was limited doing the 2 weeks notice.

A fat washed up disinterested unmotivated Lewis tore a hole in the best form of his career by Vitalis face that he could have given birth from. A focused prepared Lewis would have won a rematch comfortably.. That's just my option.. And opinions are like ass holes we all have one and some stink worse than others

Lenni had the chance to be fit, focused, motivated in the rematch with a $20 million purse but he chose to run away for obvious reasons.

    Love the contradictory opinions here:

    Then why didn't he rematch?

But he'd signed up for a contract with several fights and was talking about fighting for several more years.
