Klitishko was 39 against Fury in 2015 and was willing to fight in a rematch in 2016 and fought Joshua in 2017 when he was 41 years old.

in fact he was losing the title on one, and failing to contend in the other, which is all the more support for my argument that HW champs are right to retire from defending by 38.

Klitishko was successful at the age of 37, 38. Lewis had more left in the tank and the rematch was just one more fight which he ran away from.
