That's not cast in stone whatsoever. Thomas Hearns is just one fighter who had to learn to clinch and clinch well when hurt. He ended up damn good at it and got out of trouble numerous times thereafter. Hard work and correct tuition would likely have seen Bruno improve this aspect of his game.
