W/out the cut Vitaly likely wins a decision. Lewis was over 250 lbs. His stamina would have been greatly tested in the late rounds.
Lennox Lewis defeated every man he faced as a professional. Pretty impressive stuff, and not something you can say about too many champions in the rich history of professional boxing. What makes this even more impressive, is the fact that Lennox fought during what is widely regarded as one of the most competitive eras in the heavyweight landscape. He was a tremendous champion, who consistently fought the best of a talented lot over a great number of years.
Lennox Lewis had nothing to prove . His boxing career has been over 20 yrs ( 6 am and 14 pro ) He was financially set and most fans don't realize the hardships of being a pro fighter with injuries , dangers involved and time spent away from family. Andre Ward retired early when he could have made millions more but he said the main reason he retired was that he was burnt out after boxing for 20 yrs and his body couldn't endure the training anymore and the stress it puts on it.
Lewis stepped out of the game at the right time... Im glad he retired... arm chair cowboys and their negative comments about fighters make me sick... He is a great athlete as was Vitali..... they don't give a **** about all of the internet warriors.. as much as the experts on here... if this comment applies to you.. then more than likely you don't even recognize the truth..... Merry Xmas assholes
I love how Lewis is constantly on the defensive regarding the Vitali fight. It clearly shows deep down he knows he got very lucky that night.
Of course well informed fans know what happened in the 2nd McCall fight. But you can't blame Lennox for what happened in that fight. He can only beat the version of the man put in front of him.
