With the priviso that the fight take place at 175 and Taylor is given time to make the weight satisfactorily. Who would win?
Tarver is too big for Taylor & 2 strong...he got KO'ed by a middleweight....A lightheavy weight with Tarvers size would beat him IMO:huh
Well the Tarver that Hopkins beat was pretty inactive during that fight...or passive maybe a better word. If Taylor is aggressive he has a good chance, that is how he beat Hopkins. If Tarver can't take him out, I'd give it to Taylor.
Good question. JT was a guy who could've easily made 168 when he fought Hopkins. But 175 is a slightly different story and Tarver would obviously be the naturally bigger guy. But the Tarver against Hopkins was so inactive. But the JT against Hopkins 1 was pretty raw. I would have to favor Tarver. I think Hopkins just took away his game plan. Tarver hasn't looked great in his last 2 fights since then but he hasn't been horrible either. Now if we are talking about the JT of right now versus the Tarver of right now, i would favor JT because he improved so much from Pavlik 1 to Pavlik 2. Maybe the light came on for him.
Tarver, he's a pretty big puncher, and might be losing the boxing match, until he lands something big sometime in the middle rounds.
Tarver KOs Taylor.Taylor is way too predictable and he can't use his reach and height as an advantage against Tarver like he did to Hopkins. Tarver would time and KO simplistic Taylor.
I know Taylor couldn't give angles, slip punches, side-step like Bernard could but Tarver didn't have anything in his right lead, crossed his feet, got disorganized too easily and missed wildly. All Taylor would have to do would be to bring his power and sheer physicality up to 175 and produce the same effect on Tarver in the first part of the fight - ( thru 7 rounds, Taylor 58 out of 262 ( with 24 jabs thru 8 ), Tarver 43 out of 231 thru 7). Both Tarver and Taylor landed in single digits in the last 3 rounds, something like 4 punches for Tarver and 3 punches for Taylor in round 10 so there's nothing much to choose there...
