    cotto is/was never 'great'.
    he was in a pool of the best of the rest in the era of pacman and floyd.

    warrior, tough as nails, willing to take on all comers (until he got martinez's belt), but not even close to being a great fighter.

    His nickname was El Maestro, and for good reasons. He was an artist in the ring. Wasn’t blessed with power and didn’t fight in the typical Mexican style, instead he was a master boxer who fought in a style similar to Willie Pep with his excellent defensive skills, elusiveness, and footwork. Can fight on the outside or up close as well. Nice jab, left hook, and good counter puncher. Great fighter.
