Correction. Calzaghe did land one good flush non slapping straight left hand at one point, Hopkins walked right through it. Hopkins probably definitely landed the 10 best punches of the fight though. What was a travesty was the way that HBO/Compu Box tried to brainwash the viewer into actually believing Calzaghe landed 200+ punches on Hopkins, when fact is he landed probably less than 50. This video analysis of the fight provides irrefutable evidence that Hopkins was the victor by a score of 115-112. It also shows that Calzaghe didn't land much of anything, while Hopkins landed damn near all of the hard damaging punches in the fight.

Funny that people say Calzaghe outworked him, when Calzaghe wasn't landing anything most of the time. Boxing is hit and not be hit. Calzaghe's offense consisted of amateurish slaps, that mostly missed. While Hopkins was more frugal in his output but more precise and punishing. Calzaghe was wobbled a couple times, outside of being put on his arse, as well.

When Calzaghe slaps with the heel of his hand, his slaps can be quite firm. His palm and finger slaps are less forceful. For the most part, he landed finger slaps against Hopkins, most of which grazed the ear.

Maybe the punches didn't hurt B-Hop, but losing on his home soil from (how he calls it) a "whitey" sure did. :yep

at least 8. but calzaghe clearly won the fight due to his work rate and agression

I'm a Hopkins fan but you have to be one biased person to think Hopkins actually won the fight. I mean it was a pretty disgraceful performance. He looked pretty good the first 4 rounds but after that, he pretty much ran and tried to time Calzaghe with a shot here and there. The pace was too much for Hopkins and he had to fake low blows.

Calzaghe didn't look pretty doing it but that was mostly Hopkin's fault. I do agree that Hopkins landed probably 8 of the 10 best punches in the fight but that alone doesn't win you a fight.

Absolutely, but just note this thread is about significant punches not who "won".

After all, is it not telling that that the putative loser, old enough to be Calzaghe father, landed at least 8 out of 10 of the best punches in the fight, including a hard right that floored (in the literal sense) Calzaghe in the first.

Incredibly old fighters, well in to their forties, get very, very tired.

Hopkins landed the top 30 punches of that fight. he didn't have to do much to win. how do you know if you're losing when your opponent hasn't hit you all night? i wouldn't have felt the need to "do" more than to expose him for the amateur that he was either.
