The term "tomato can" where did it come from, who first used the expression and why the term "tomato can"? this should be easy for the knowledgeable boxing historians here I hope. And don't look up wikipedia as they don't seem to know either.

A tomato can is just what it sounds like. You knock tomato cans over easily and sometimes the red juice leaks out. They are also known as "palookas" and "ham and eggers", and are a dying breed. Where it came from I don't know. I would guess that it came out of the minds of one of many great boxing writers in the early to mid 20th century.
