WTF, is the deal with the guy? Ernie Shavers was suppose to one of the greatest punchers of all time in boxing, and Cobb was able to block 500 punches in a row with face and then TKO him. How would he do in todays HW division? Tell me more about Cobb?

I love how even though he is a white guy he had an afro. Thumbs up

He was middle-of-the-road or even subpar in terms of skill but his mandibular strength and fortitude were out of this world. He beat Shavers because Iron Chinned Warriors beat Glass Jawed Frauds 9/10!

He caused commenter Howard Cosell to quit Boxing ! Criticism of boxing

Cosell denounced professional boxing in a November 26, 1982 bout between Larry Holmes and a clearly out-matched Randall "Tex" Cobb at the Astrodome. The fight was held two weeks after the fatal fight between Ray Mancini and Duk Koo Kim, and Cosell famously asked the rhetorical question, "I wonder if that referee (Steve Crosson) is [conducting] an advertisement for the abolition of the very sport that he is a part of?" Cosell, horrified over the brutality of the one-sided fight said that if the referee did not stop the fight, that he would never broadcast a professional fight again. Richard Green, who had officiated the fatal Mancini-Kim fight two weeks earlier and was the reason for Cosell's concern, committed suicide less than a year later, on July 1, 1983.

Major boxing reforms were later implemented, the most important of which allows referees to stop clearly one-sided fights early in order to protect the health of the fighters. In amateur boxing, one-sided fights would be automatically stopped if one fighter had a score considerably higher than his opponent. Hitherto, only the "ring" physician had the authority to halt a bout. Another change was the reduction of championship bouts from 15 rounds to 12 rounds by the WBC. (The fatal blows to Kim were in Rounds 13 and 14.) The WBA and WBO quickly followed suit, and the IBF did so in 1988.

Cosell did not cut off ties with the United States Amateur Boxing Federation. His 1984 broadcasts of the Olympic Trials, box-offs, and the 1984 Summer Olympics boxing tournament were his last professional calls of the sport; the overall competition included such up-and-coming stars as Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Pernell Whitaker and Lennox Lewis.

That Chin was wet toilet paper. He was just like Tommy Hearns, huge puncher with shitty punch resistance.

Howard Cosell quit covering boxing because he was so disgusted by Cobb's one-sided loss to Larry Holmes in 1982. In response, Cobb said, "If I eliminate heart disease, if I walk on water, if I come up with a cure for crippled kids, I can't image a greater gift to mankind."
