well, since mayweather vs McGregor is happening, you always get hear McGregor and his fanboys calling boxing "not a real fight" .....while on the other hand implying that mma is "a real figth".
what they dont see is that while mma clearly Shows how a "fight" CAN be won, it doesnt touch on the question of how it SHOULD be won.

it´s like looking at warfare: yes, a war can be won easier and faster if you resort to tactics like using the atomic bomb, poison gas, biological weapons. on top of that you can demoralize the public by killing the children and raping the women etc. but SHOULD it be won that way?

and thats what mma People dont get. think about it: you could create the SUPER ultimate fighting Championships: all contestants would have to enter nude and EVERYTHING would be allowed.
and it´s Champion would be the guy who´d be willing to submit his Opponent by biting him in the nutsack while shoving his fist up his ass at the same time.

YES, you CAN win a fight like that. but should you? and is that "Champion" the guy you´d walk up to and shake his hand, telling him "good Job". Keep it up.

Or isnt it better to fight like a man. with fists. Standing up.

Who cares about how a fight should be won? A fights a fight - if you're in the street and you and another guy have some sort of confrontation do you then say "Queensbury rules only please mate" or do you prepare for all forms of fighting? This is such a nothing thread.

You know, before the mma craze it was considered cowardly in a street fight to kick your opponent or wrestle him to the ground. Because there is only honour in beating someone if there is a relatively level playing field. A real man doesn't need the rules of a sport to avoid hitting or hurting someone in a vulnerable position. I usually say I like boxing only as a sport and don't bother with mma, but there being a level playing field is fundamental to why I like boxing and respect actual martial arts. Don't forget that before it was regulated to become more popular the appeal of ufc was the appeal of brutal no holds barred fighting, not combining martial arts. So I would say the opposite of what mma fans insist: that mma because it's not a fair martial art isn't a 'real fight'.

I do agree, true honour is in fighting standing up, just fists, no dirty tactics, no hitting them when they're down. This sense of honour has got to be one reason why the sport grew - it appealed to the gentleman era of the past. This is why Boxing is interesting.

But Martial arts has its own ancient roots. We like to see which martial art is better than the other. MMA is Bruce Lee's vision in an attempt to create what is the complete, ultimate fighter. There's nothing wrong in that.
I can confidently say that there's no one on this planet who's a better fighter than Stipe Miocic currently. I couldn't in good faith say the same about Anthony Joshua for example.

How isn't it fair? You do realise there are rules? Typical ignorance from someone who obviously has hardly ever watched MMA

Have you ever done MMA? Have you ever even boxed? I've done both, and can honestly say I'd rather have all round skills if i were in need to defend myself on the street. So you wanna fight me? I wont be using Queensbury rules though

I didn't say there weren't rules. I know the referee will stop the fight if one guy takes too much punishment. But the fact is mma allows hitting someone in a vulnerable position and choking, and that to me isn't honourable.

Its a fight not a fencing tournament. First of all honour in boxing has gone completely out of the window - there are top fighters fighting bums, paying off refs etc.

Mark Hunt constantly does walk away KOs, no punching in vulnerable positions. True honour.

i completely agree. choking someone or twisting their are to make them submit will get you the win. but it isnt honourable.
