I'm an MMA fan that also watches boxing. 1) MMA is closer to a real fight than boxing. 2) Boxing is clean and honourable until some guy kicks you in the nutsack and he and his buddies all jump you at the same time 3) That's the real world 4) MMA is essentially Pankration, which was one of the earliest Olympic sports in the actual, original Greek Olympic games. It has a rich history itself.
I would never shake the hand of a guy that had it up another mans ass! The MMA crowd forgets what the A stands for in MMA! They are learning real fast that the best art form to use in the MMA stand up game is boxing. Not too long ago, commentators would always critisize boxing. That has changed a lot in the last 5 years or so. You rarely hear commentators say negitive things about boxing.
Connor keeps banging on about how he would win in a real fight as well, Well beat floyd up for real then? He know's full well he will never do that so it makes a real fight irrelevant. Connor is too scared to start a real fight, because of the consequences of doing so, Not just with the law he would be sued for millions, if he could ever get passed floyds entourage in the first place . Connor can not do a thing to floyd mayweather, he simply can't get to him for all of these reasons. However floyd CAN get to connor, He has the money and power to get him into a boxing ring and beat his ass that way. Floyd can talk the most **** and say what ever he wants and Connor won't do **** That's some real mastermind ****.
see, this is EXACTLY what i mean. you talk about streetfighting, "the real world", kicking People in the nutsack..........blah, blah etc. but that is totally beside the Point. at no Point was i disputing that choking, Joint manipultation and groundfighting in General can win you a fight. but then again, so can eye gouging and biting. i talked about dignity in fighting. your post doesnt address that at all.
No, UFC first became popular because it proved that a master of Jiu Jitsu can defeat any striker with little experience on the mat.
Even in MMA most guys want to stand. Who wants to cuddle with half naked man anyways.i don't want a choke man between my legs. I want to KO him.
And the strikers were carefully selected.also had to be sure they had no idea to grapple. There were dudes who could do both a little bit. But of course it was too dangerous then. Why no wrestler with somekind of boxing? Would have ****ed up Royce roally
Then I shall address that point. Let's see: Holyfield, Ward : Masters of the Way of the Crashing Dome Golota, Bowe, Ward : Masters of the Way of the Eagle Strikes the Soft Hairy Coconut Tyson : Originator of Earmunchdo and the Arm Snapping Grapple Greb, Duran : 10th dan Thumbeyedo practicioners Margarito : Hands of Plaster Technique Floyd : Suckerpunchdo master Benn, Bowe : Heavy Fist Strikes Puny Neck attack practitioners I think I've made my point.
Nope. Early MMA / UFC simply took anybody. The guys that could do a bit of both soon rose to the top - eg - Ruas.
That's the ONLY time these fights are remotely entertaining. Once the "action" hits the ground, it's snooze time. It's beyond BORING to watch a couple of guys rolling around on the canvas!!
Check out Michael Johnson vs. Justin Gaethje.. A great 'shoot out' that happened last weekend, the kind of thing we used to see in boxing all the time, but has become more infrequent in recent years. I've recommended this fight to a few boxing purists like @CST80 and they've all loved it.
