Since this board likes to talk about past big men, I thought why not put them in vs. modern big men that often came up short. 15 rounds, your best guess. For comedic purposes, I'll add a promotional spin to it and odds for those who like to wager Price vs Fulton. " Battle of the chinny giants. " Over and under 2 1/2 rounds. Golota vs. Godfrey " Below sea level in Netherlands" DQ for either fighter 2 to 1 odds Damiani vs. Primo Carnera. " The Columbus Day Brawl " Due to various allegations of a fix, all bets are off. Valuev vs. Willard " Two Giants battle in Tokyo " Odds for a draw are low, 3 to 1 against.
What fight has a better chance of DQ, Golota vs Godfrey or Nelson vs Saddler? This is assuming Saddler is actually held to the rules, instead of getting away with the **** he got away with in say, Pep vs Saddler 4
This tournament is weighted towards the old timers, and that would be reflected in the results. Fulton was two classes above Price. Golota vs Godfrey might be the dirtiest figth in history, but I guess that Golota would foul out first. Carnera was much better than Damiani. Willard did enough to be favourd over Valuev, but who knows.
I don't know about that. I'd pick Damiani on points over Carnera. Valuev wasn't a bad boxer, probably a bit better than Willard was. Fulton might be a class above Price, but this fight would not be decided on skills. I'd side with Fulton, though film could sway me the other way. Godfrey vs Golota. Who knows. I think Godfrey was a little better overall.
Obviously we have never seen Willard against a bigger man, but we also saw him against more world class ones. Come on, it has to be Fulton all the way. On paper he is one of the best contenders never to fight for a title. Somebody's cup is getting dented for sure. Perhaps Godfrey could suspend that practice better though?
