I mentioned him in passing towards the end, I considered it, but my fingers were getting tired.:yep

Wilder's power personally I think is legit to a degree, he's no Tyson, but if he lands the right way, he'll decapitate his opponent, it seems like he's got Floyd/Calzaghe brittle hand problems which could hamper his career greatly going forward. That being said his power is more legit than AJ's and he is getting better at delivering it.

More agenda driven garbage from CST to discredit fighters he hates. Joshua and Beterbiev are clearly right up there with the hardest hitters today, that's not even up for debate.

More agenda driven attacks from an ardent defender of all things Al Haymon. Now watch he'll pretend like he's totally fair and unbiased in his response. Somehow I have a feeling if I wrote write ups discrediting Kovalev and GGG's power you'd agree completely.

Not a fan of Haymon/PBC. Kovalev and GGG are two of the hardest punchers in the game. Try again.

Questioning Kovalev/GGGs power is as stupid as questioning Beterbievs or Joshuas. Nothing to do with bias.

Trying to place AJ and Beterbiev's power alongside theirs is premature and silly, neither have faced anyone remotely close to the top level of their divisions. So its still a question mark. That's the whole point of this thread, that you obviously didn't read.

Golovkin couldn't KO Amar Amari, a 12-9 journeyman who'd been stopped 5 times previously. Couldnt put away Boudia who was stopped by Dimitry Chudinov, Abraham and Kessler. Went the distance with Ian Gardner who Chad Dawson TKO'd a few fights
earlier. I still don't question the fact he has crazy power.

Beterbiev destroyed Cloud in a few rounds like it was nothing, and Joshua blew away a guy I've never seen rocked let alone dropped or stopped. They both probably hit harder than GGG p4p and at least on Kovalevs level.

Spence knocks out everyone at WW.

Imagine those chunky ass body shots landing on Thurman's torso? I dread the thought.

What a great post CST80,it's these kind of posts that made me join here.

Lennox Lewis put it well when talking of AJ,he said at some point you're gonna come up against an opponent that you can't knock out,it happens, better guys will roll with the punches, see em coming or just got better chins than the C and B level guys, maybe with Joshua he will prove to be just too good and his power legit but like you say until he fights a Klitcsco,Fury,Parker,Ortiz or Wilder he will be questioned and rightly so.
Wilders power is unlikely to catch any of the top guys out since they aren't gonna walk onto his telegraphed windmill punches that would KO anyone I believe?
Canelo fans may judge him off nearly killing Amir Khan but the rest of us judge him on his A level opposition against Floyd,Cotto,Trout and Lara, his power looked nothing like against them, yet at 160 he may have more power?
Frampton was dropped twice a few fights ago against the skinniest looking opponent ever,he though he'd steamroller him proving that power isn't a muscle thing, skinny guys with long arms and good timing can generate serious power.

Like you say it's nothing to be ashamed of in boxing which is why someone like Andre Ward and Floyd can beat allcomers inc power punchers by simply boxing.

It's true guys like Foreman,Tyson,Jackson,GGG,Hearnes,Manny ect are super rare and don't come round often.

We can think that but the point of the post is that until he faces a Thurman,Porter or Brook we'll never know as stopping Algerie is just not the same?

Similar to Crawford, his speed and accuracy do more damage than sheer power. Also he's a counter puncher and when guys walk into his shots he usually gets proper extension on his shots therefore enhancing the overall effect of the punch. But he's no one punch savage KO guy, his power is slightly above average but he utilizes it beautifully.

I think Beterbiev has the real power. Drops guys with what look to be very short punches that seem to generate power out of no where.

I think the higher you go in weight the more likely you are to find massive p4p punchers. The human skull and body can only take so much. You take these guys with large, athletic, heavy frames and train them to punch and they can cause tremendous damage to the human body.

Boxing will never change. The ko's become less frequent when you start to face world class fighters. Good post. Kov doesn't have frightening ko power, and neither does GG IMO. Other than that, good post.
