OK, so this is my 3rd post and I thought I'd start a thread. Arturo "the Thunder" Gatti. Is he a future HOF'er? He was one of my favorite fighters. The most exciting fighter I have ever seen. For sheer heart and will to win, he belonged in another era. I have watched the Gatti - Ward trilogies many times and believe they are required viewing for any new boxing fan as much as Ali- Frazier or MAB - EM. He was involved in no less than 4 of Ring Magazine's "Fight of the Year" and held belts at SFW and LW. Despite the fact I am huge Gatti fan I am aware that he is not going to make any ATG P4P lists, however in terms of sheer exitement and entertainment, I believe Gatti is a "Great" and worthy of his place in the HOF. Lastly, how would you rate Gatti H2H against the current elite at SFW and LW? Say against Manny Pacquaio, Edwin Valero and Cassius Baloyi at SFW and Tim Bradley, Paulie M and Ricky Hatton at LW? I'd be interested to know. Cheers.
I dont wanna sound disrespectful, i respect Gatti as I do all fighters, especially for his warrior aspect which he is so famous for, but when he split a 3-fight trilogy with MICKY WARD and he was given a chance against Mayweather I couldnt believe what i was reading, there was no chance ever, as was proven. He had great fights but if any1 thinks he was an elite fighter with a chance in any h2h fantasy matches against history's cream then they are mad imo. Like i always say, the criteria for HOF induction is just not clear for me, he held alphabet-titles in multiple weight classes and give us some of the most exciting battles of the era, so he may be inducted justifiably on them strengths? This might look like im just taking this opportunity to jump on Gatti, thats not what it is, im just making it clear that this man was not on the level of the top tier fighters that have been.
