Next Saturday, May 2nd will be time for PBF to come clean on who he really is in boxing : the top P4P from this generation or his kingdom will come tumbling down.... What's your take?
Both him and Pacquiao made it far enough to be in an event recognized by literally the entire world. That's enough indication right there that both, win or lose, are high up there. A top notch promoter can over-hype any fighter, regardless of ability, for a while but eventually your ability will need to carry you otherwise we would have a lot more like those two out there.
Well, the way I see...only one boxer needs to proof who he says he is...Enough of tactical fights and get dirty with... As Lupe Contreras say: Vamos a ver quien es el mas macho:happy
You could've made this thread in 1998 right before Mayweather fought Chicanito Hernandez. Mayweather is not some young, unproven prospect. He's proven himself over and over and passed every test they put in front of him. You don't stay in the p4p top 10 for over 15 years if you're not proven. Win or lose, Mayweather is still a great fighter. This fight will have an effect on just how great he's viewed as.
Is he a doctor: Health come first Is he a logger: Wood chopper Is he a porn star: Leaked naughty photo
I disagree!! It is not a matter of skills, mid a matter of his style and expectation of the boxer he is....depend on his skills, box sporadictky in each round just to get the win...with some exceptions...but he is not the " I will die inside the ring type...never is , never was""
neither was whitaker or Willlie Pep, just because you have a safety first style doesnt mean you cant be great
My goodness Orisha, a decade later and you still can't differentiate between "prove" and "proof"!?. I do agree, the upcoming fight will prove a lot to the general public. To me however, they will both be forever great and #1.
How many fighters do you think really are, as opposed to just saying it as a mindset/motivational tool? For most of the Johnny Owen/Duk Koo Kim/Jimmy Garcia/Levander Johnson/Jimmy Doyle/Davey Moore, etc...tragedies, I mean obviously we can't read their minds, but I would just guess that most of them would take it back and quit before dying. It's not like they knew that they were gonna die. Many great fighters have quit, and it's understandable. They have lives to live beyond the sport. Mayweather loses points on the ATG rankings for his inactivity and opoosition mainly from 2008-on. He became the biggest draw in the sport, he could get the fights he wanted if he really wanted them, but he's been frustratingly inactive and some of the opposition has been very disappointing, to say the least. I blame him more for that than fights he missed out on before he became a big draw. But none of that "he won't die in the ring" hyperbole/self-motivational talk.
LOL! You talk as if that is something to be commended for! Oh yeah! Dying! That is definitely the way to go!
Well let see, in the history of boxing we all seen boxers that's were willing to pay the ultimate price....or at least they fought that way!! PBF never has come that way, and since he never has been put in that posisitiin we will never know... Again boxing legends, ATGS or the TBEs all of them have shown this quality!!!
