Just when I was beginning to respect Kovalev he runs and pulls this Harry Houdini move. What was Duva thinking? That a purse bid wouldn't actually go to a bid?

As far as I'm concerned, if Kovalev forfeits his mandatory status for the WBC 175lb title, he forfeits any claim as a title holder or top contender in the division.

    I agree

Now the inevitable clash between Beterbiev vs Stevenson will prove who really is the man at 175 in my opinion

So what happens when Duckvalev has to make a mandatory against a Haymon fighter?

How is he hiding, if Duva doesn't want to bid what can he do? Force her at a gunpoint?

Bad business, they'll tag team scrubs like Holmes and Dokes. Their promotional brothers.

I see what you're saying and I'm of the opinion that Kovalev would T/KO Adonis. But a lot of people were giving Adonis hell for ducking Sergey when Al Haymon moved him from HBO. So the backlash towards Kovalev is to be expected.

Honestly they're just making a business decision. They're trying to get a return on their investment. Kovalev has fought some good comp Hopkins then Pascal so I think they will milk him for a while then try and make a fight with Stevenson down the road. Back when Stevenson was with HBO it was a low risk high reward fight now after some success and Kovalev being a name they want some easy fights to make money with that's all. Boxing at the end of the day is a business and some people need to realize that, even though that aspect can suck for us fans but I can live with that.

I agree, it's a sucker move by Duva (maybe she's not confident in Kovalev) but let's not forget Stevenson ducked him in the past as well when the fight was all but signed so those now calling Kovalev out on it better be consistent.

Nah that ain't right, we as boxing fans shouldn't be accepting this kind of mentality.

It's silly to call Kovalev a tomato can crusher. His competition is as good as Stevenson's.

Nay_Sayer...!!! The quintessential idiotic look-at-me moron alt poster, yeah I know who he is...!!!

Seriously wish the mods here would ban idiots that make threads when the same damn thread has been made repeatedly...!!! Especially when said poster has numerous posts in the same other threads...!!!

Better. And I'm pretty sure this same guy predicted Hopkins to school him.

I agree that it's better, just didn't want to rile him up too much :)
