Wow.........this brings back memories. This very subject was the first big introductory post I made here back in '04, and it went many pages long. You see, that post was my introduction to redrooster! Bless him. I don't even remember what my list was like, except that I had Leonard at #1.......this of course was the impetus of the ongoing discussion.
Leonard, Hagler, Pryor, Chavez, Sanchez, Spinks, Hearns, Holmes, Duran, McCallum, Arguello, Pedroza, Gomez, Camacho, Tyson, Whitaker, Holyfield,, Chang, Watanabe, Nelson (next:Galaxy, Qawi, Mustapha, Fenech, Taylor, Rosario, Chandler, Pintor,Gushiken,Curry, Ramirez).
McCallum had trouble with that style for sure but he still made it 1-1, Mike was the greater & better fighter IMO (just in case you were not kidding )
Leonard Hagler Tyson Spinks Hearns Holmes Chavez Whittaker Mccallum Duran/Curry/Nunn (can't split over the decade)
Why would I be kidding? :huh I had Sumbu winning both. He also schooled Barkley, beat Kalule (robbery) and apart from Nunn beat a lot of top middleweights whilst displaying some of the best technical ability ever seen in a boxing ring. I have Kalambay higher. Especially because of the first fight with McCallum, one of the best wins of the 80s.
Khaosai Galaxy should not be above Chang under any circumstances Booze, nor should he be ranked in the top 20 fighters of the 80s. When was he the no.1 in his division?
