I know Hopkins said it was accidental but i'm sure he headbutted Wright in purpose. He knew what angle Wright was coming in and knew exactly how to make it seem like it was accidental. That's what makes him what he is. He knows exactly what he's doing every second of the ring. And for that, i respect his abilities.

John Ruiz - nobody flaunted the basic rules of the sport so regularly and so blatantly.

Unlike most of the fighters mentioned, too - without illegal tactics Ruiz would never have "won" anything more than a regional title. The other fighters had actual boxing skills they could fall back on

I agree, Ruiz has minimal skills with great backing from Don King. The fighters that were listed have skills that use rough house tactics to increase there overall ability to win a match, Ruiz' using cheating as his only effective skill.

Hatton, Hopkins, and Holyfield seem to be among the games very best at roughhousing. Barrera also fights rough when the battles get heated.

You have a flair for the language, Dorfmeister. I may not agree with you, but I admire your support of your fighter.

    Lol.

    Holyfield is SO dirty.

Take a look at Hasim Rahman's head after he fought Holy. You think that was caused by a punch?

This is my ultimate dirty fighter:

First you have Panama Lewis in the corner.

Then you have Eusebio Pedroza's penchant for hitting guys in the back and throwing elbows. You've got Andrew Golota's low blows for viciousness, but have him do it as often as Bernard Hopkins does when the ref is on the other side. Either Golota again or Mike Tyson for teeth use. Evander Holyfield's frequency of headbutts, but with the slickness of Carlos Maussa so we can all laugh at it. Terry Norris for hitting guys when they're down. Take some of the old timers like Fritzie Zivic or Sandy Saddler for thumbing (they'll still find a way to do it with the new gloves) and lacing. Tyson again for hitting after the bell. Riddick Bowe for punching behind the head. And in case the fighter can't make weight, we'll have Jose Luis Castillo's old doctor or the commissioner of the NYSAC in 2000.

you forgot to sprinkle in a little wilfredo gomez, then you have him sign with don king and fight for a wbc title sanctioned by jose sulaiman.

that is about as bad as you can get.

truth is the only ones there who actually belong are bhop casa, and hatton. the rest the rough fighting is not really part of their identity in the ring.

    Fritzie Zivic was the best.
What ever it takes to win.

From this list - Hopkins. He's dirty on purpose, which is a little different than a guy like say, Sam Peter. ALOT of guys rabbit punch (Ali did it alot - watch the film!), Peter just takes it to the extreme. Hopkins is outrageously dirty, though. Remember the Tito fight, where he talked about making it "knees and elbows"? :D

MAB is pretty dirty too...but more in the sense of brawling it out (with the exception of the infamous Naseem turnbuckle-smash!), and a much more restrained dirty fighter. The second Pacquiao fight, for instance...he headbutted, if it was on purpose, to regain control of a fight he felt was spinning out of his control, as opposed to a guy like Hopkins who does it whenever he can :good

Hopkins has been in a couple of comical dirty fights, too. Remember Echols? :D BODYSLAM!

The Hopkins of old was GREAT! He will sneak some illegal moves here and there. Knows how to pretend that he was hurt. Now he toned a down a bit. He used to hold someone and his opponent would be tired and bruised from all kinds of places. The guys leg will start to hurt, loose toe nail... jk...
