No, I am taking that into account. But it is only one division. Mayweather may very well be the best at 130 ever (arguable, Arguello). But Jones was dominant at 168 and 175, rarely losing rounds. And at 175, Jones was the smaller man often, much like Mayweather at 147 has been....but he still destroyed most of those fighters. Mayweather hasn't been as dominant since moving up in weight.
I agree, which is why I rate Jones much higher on ability, but once again, I don't take what someone is capable of doing with as much conviction as I do what someone has actually done. Based on resume, Mayweather outdoes Roy after 95. Based on head to head ability, Roy always outdoes Floyd, prior to 2004.
1. Roy jones 2. Bernard Hopkins 3. Floyd Mayweather jr. 4. Winky Wright 5. Joe Calzaghe 6. Felix Trinidad 7. Marco Antonio Barerra 8. Shane Mosley 9. Lennox Lewis 10. Oscar De La Hoya
1. Mayweather 2. Jones 3. Hopkins 4. Barrera 5. Lewis 6. Calzaghe 7. De La Hoya 8. Trinidad 9. Mosley 10. Wright
Roy Jones Jr. Floyd Mayweather Jr. Manny Pacquiao Bernard Hopkins Erik Morales Winky Wright Tito Trinidad Sugar Shane Mosley Joe Calzaghe Lennox Lewis
I think the top three or five are easy picks for most people, then placing becomes more difficult after that.
1. Roy Jones 2. Floyd Mayweather 3. Lennox Lewis 4. Bernard Hopkins 5. Winky Wright 6. Shane Mosley 7. Oscar Delahoya 8. Joe Calzaghe 9. Manny Pacquaio 10. Ricardo Lopez
By quality of opposition, Delahoya is head and shoulders top of the list. No-one else has fought close to the range and calibre of his opponents.
The only slight problem being he lost to most of them... I could fight the best fighters on the planet too
1. Jones Jr. 2. Mayweather Jr. 3. Hamed 4. De La Hoya 5. Mosley 6. Calzaghe 7. Barrera 8. Hatton 9. Pacquiao 10. Wright
Look up the word MOST in the dictionary. And as for how you would have done against his opposition... I won't go there. He has five losses. All were against top-notch competition. Two he arguably won. Two more were split decisions. His only decisive loss was to the much bigger Bernard. Against that, he has two or three wins that were arguably draws or losses. Obviously you have to consider the results as well as the level of competition. If he'd won them all he'd probably be at the top of everyone's list. But considering who he fought, and how he fared, he belongs somewhere in the middle of the list.
Actually, if you want to nitpick he lost to Felix Sturm as well Since becoming a glamour boy pansy that sports his moms lingerie he has lost more big fights than he's won I'm afraid. Vargas and Mayorga don't count He used to be great to watch down at the lower weights, but he's become a joke
