As was Shibata. Nothing 'concerning' about that.

Yeah, it is concerning - as in, i was concerned about it when trying to deduce his all time ranking.

Well, never say never. Not finished yet though and an utter beast it is becoming.

Saldivar to low for you flea? I'm glad you came to see it more my way on LMR.

I'm happy with Saldivar, even if I would personally move him a few places North and have him over Sanchez.

I understand your position on LMR, as you do mine.

Very happy with this project McGrain. Haven't winced once whereas the BN one...well, we know how I reacted to that

Cheers Garrus. But you can read it here for free!

Saldivar/Sanchez is close, but Sanchez has more defences and is undefeated champion...you really think Saldivar's competition is significantly better? To a degree that it overhauls those differences?

I've a question on Wilfredo Gomez-Zarate not thread worthy so I thought id stick it here.

Is the bad blood just due to the PR-Mexico rivalry or is it personal? I just watched it there and Gomez seems hyped as sh*t during the fight, seemed to feel pretty strongly against Zarate!

Edit: Meant for the scorecard thread!

He came back from the dead.

They're very comparable, don't get me wrong. Sanchez would've had a loss if he came back, post prime and fought a fighter of Shibata's level, especially considering the Jap's cultured left hand and how he would've given him much more hassle than Cowdell, Castillo or Ford did. Winstone x3 matches these three anyway IMO. Ramos, Laguna, Legra, Fammo are as good as Lopez x2, Gomez and Nelson IMO, if you take everything into account and not just the names (obviously that's not what you've done, just sayin') and how many more defences did Sal' have? Genuinely don't know the numbers here (I ain't checking boxrec)

To answer your question and to get back to what we've always said, at this level, your splitting hairs and it comes down to personal preference. I have Saldivar higher on my list of ATG featherweights than Sanch', so he would rank higher for me.

Just to do some proofreading- I don't think Jenkins was a southpaw. Still good write up.

That Ambers/Montanez footage is tainted. The end of the 9th round is the exact same footage as the end of the 5th, even though the commentator made it a point to say they merely looked the same. Nah, it was the exact same footage.

Also found it interesting how the commentator remarked that a lot of fight experts at the time considered Montanez the best Lightweight since Benny Leonard.

Great footage for the most part. Ambers looked brilliant.
