It was a good post though. Duran and Gans is pretty tortured.

Ooh, I dunno'. At his very best Gans could move and hit with the best of 'em. Moreso than De Jesus, who had Duran down twice. Not badly hurt, but then again against Gans maybe he would be.

I think Duran would win more often than not, but I wouldn't count sneaky, smooth and smart Gans out against any lightweight, on film he holds up pretty well.

I'm leaning towards Gans above Duran currently, but this is ****ing me up a bit. Still, I feel the same way about Gomez, and I didn't let that affect me too much.

There is really something ajar with Tyson missing out with Jones Jr placed as high as he is, considering ability is strong reasoning for his placement. The Douglas lost does a little to explain the differences, but Jones Jr disqualified himself against Griffin in his prime in what was a rather competitive fight. Makes you wonder what Eddie Futch could have done with "Insert Legend" against a prime Jones Jr. I get that Jones Jr has multiple weight-jumping feats, and slightly more attractive longevity (That's actually debatable). Tyson at his peak was quite nearly every bit as phenomenal, but was so against bigger, and often times more consistently superior opposition. I can see about 50 spaces between them but not damn near 80.

Jones was the best fighter in the world for about nine\ten years.tyson's longevity doesn't come close to that.

Duran over Gans for me, by just 2 or 3 spots. Gomez doesn't really have quite the career to match his own beastliness on film, so that don't count. It helped Whitaker into the top 20 though, so I think Duran should shuffle in above Gans.

    Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Benitez, Kalule

    vs

    McLarnin, Canzoneri, Garcia, Miller, Battalino

Gotta be Sugar Ray. Ross was the underdog in his biggest wins but so was Ray.
