    Great stuff McGrain.

Coming to think about it, sure SRL did beat complete monsters and specialists at what they do, but his longevity was short and his resume outside of those monsters is nothing near Ross' resume.

I'm saving that for the top ten.

In other news Ghostface's new album is absolutely terrific.

I think you mean never knocked out- i'm pretty sure Ross was dropped by Garcia.

In which fight? The first? What do you have?

But no, I don't "mean" knocked out, I mean down.

There are two wire reports for this fight. The first has Ross being knocked down by a jab for no count, then down for a three count to a right hand.

The second has him dropped to the bottom rope and momentarily entangled there for no-count. Then hit by a hard right that "didn't drop him all the way to the canvas before the bell sounded."

It is unclear, and given that it is unclear, I hand him the benefit of the doubt.

"McLarnin landed a short left-hook that sent Barney to the canvas [in the ninth] but he was up before the time-keepers gavel struck one. "Nobody has ever counted over me in the prize ring and i wasn't about to let them start now", said Ross."

I guess you could argue he'd never taken a count.

I'd love to hear the arguments for Louis above Pep and Benny Leonard. Pep would've boxed circles around Louis. I appreciate Louis' title reign and defense record. Not that I think it surpassed Pep's streak. I give props to Louis for his record in rematches. However, we're talking about a fighter that was being outpointed by the three best fighters he faced. Yeah, that's way too strong but it's needed to align the proper perspective here. I know, I know he connected the dots on one of those fighters (Well two, technically), and got favorably judging in aother, and stopped at a young age in the first. I mean, what other fighter can be said to be getting out-boxed by a LHW that was thirty three pounds lighter for 13 rounds and still make a top 10 P4P list. Again, I know I'm sounding incredibly harsh but we're talking the absolute top 10 best fighters of all time. This is the creme de la creme. Louis is absolutely the 2nd best HW of all time. However, his deficiencies: namely Ring IQ and lack of adaptability are too apparent to gloss over when we're talking about the absolute "Gods of War" as Stonehands called them. Hell, I know midgets & HWs great shafted in the P4P lists but two HWs in a top ten is swinging the pendulum far too heavily in the other direction.

I see Louis sort of how I see Arguello. Louis is a better puncher, though, but Arguello is probably smarter and quicker from a mind-hand-feet coordination to fluidly make the subtle adjustment. However, Louis has a much more impressive HW defense number and years reign which puts him about 15-25 places higher I recon.

The difference between Louis in the top 10 as opposed to not being in the top 10 is the difference between a great list and one of the best lists you could potentially make. There's nothing melodramatic about that statement. Joe Louis must've been McGrain's first real love of boxing.

Yeah, I didn't even bring up Louis durability. Where do you feel Louis & Arguello should be relative to each other in placement?

I don't think this is really a H2H list though :conf
