Goodnight, don't get all sick on this when I'm gone but that door is closing on any new names tomorrow.

Definitely for the bold, and maybe Dempsey. I'm unsure because Johnson suffers the same issue, but does have Jeffries and Denver Ed, McVey, and such.

Tyson definitely is absolute 80 spots above Wlad. Liston should barely make the list if he does, so I can accept a 30 spot gap.

You don't give a ****, I do. Agree to disagree.

You quoted a guy who's unsure how to split the two, which made our entire disagreement a ****ing waste, considering nobody rates Wlad ahead of Floyd.

Thing is for me with wlad is he lost 3 cause his chin is dodgy to less than top level fighters and I am pretty sure he only avenged one of those defeats .and the one he did avenge he waited what three years to do . And his big brother beat up one of the others for him

Taking into account dominance galaxy ranks above wlad

    Not exactly

Which we should. How the hell do you explain Roy Jones Jr being ranked like #24 if that's not a part of what we're doing here.

    What?

Well I guess a lot of it stems on how you score the Quarry and Ellis fights. I was almost certain he beat Quarry until I actually checked to see it was a draw. I knew he was given a bad decision against Ellis.

He got trounce by the bigger and better Ali & Liston which I accept.

You know what. Who cares, we're talking about two guys who belong in the 150-200 range.

I'll just keep the case against Wlad from now on I suppose.

I really have no qualms if Jeffries and Liston miss out on the list. More the former than the latter. I just prefer Jack Johnson. I know testimony can mean jack all but what did Nat Fleischer say about the man? Johnson was ahead of his time and truly great fighter. Nobody talks about Wlad like that nowadays regardless of the dominance. I realize that fighters get their fair due in hindsight, however. It's why I hate ranking active fighters, really.

Dempsey has the Williard vanquishing. Then he dominated the best LHW, dominated Fulton, beat the crude but bigger Firpo. Dempsey was a transcendent figure. And I have zero problems with ranking Wlad about a spot higher on a specifically HW list, but on a P4P list I'd have Dempsey ahead of Wlad, definitely.

It's like Sam Langford. HW was his best weight. Why aren't people ranking him higher at HW? There's no bigger disparity in a fighter's best divisional ranking and his P4P ranking. Kind of strange. I wonder what Langford would think about Wlad & Dempsey's ranking in terms of a P4P, greatest fighters list.

Maybe I missed the instructions. I never knew that's all that we where doing here. Obviously accomplishments are the primary factor.

    Uh huh.

Of course he would. I hope I did convey that opinion, maybe I wasn't clear.

    I don't disagree with that.

We seem to have a different opinion on how P4P works. There is nothing clear about it or right or wrong. In a way, I'm harsh against bigger HWs. Maybe it's undeserved, it's just my stance.

I feel the same way about Jeffries. So it's not a modern versus old school thing.

There is no evidence pointing to the contrary.

I'm not sure Galaxy is better, Wlad has been no.1 for years.

Kim might well be better than Haye though. And Contreras>Peter (or Chambers) for sure. For once, Khaosai may have the marginally better opposition (probably Byrd>Pical, but Kongtoranee>>>Brock)

Dempsey also beat the future champ' in Sharkey. I would say his win over Gibbons is better than his wins over Carpentier and Firpo.

PeteThePrince you're saying 'if they were the same size Floyd would be better' I think.

Which is not how this thread works. It is also far harder to measure.

Especially with Wlad. I mean, how do you scale down someone who's tall with a long reach? Does it mean that smaller armed fighters like Ricky Hatton are long if they're fighting Hearns or vice versa?!?!

I've never thought this train of thought regarding 'P4P, if I may add the prevalent definition for decade upon decade, really works.

For me, it's who Is doing the better work regardless of the fact Wlad would squash Patterson in a fight. Not would Patterson squash Wlad if Wlad wasn't bigger!!?!(£-@'csklanzjdkrjnjxm££!isiqkzk""k&g6i)f<>¥%

As a matter of fact it's disputed that ever happened and something I'll be looking into when I'm over there.

As for big brothers taking care of dangerous opponents, Khaosai's big brother beat the other super fly monster of Khaosai's era. Didn't see Khaosai wanting any of Moon.
