Ernesto Marcel deserves at least one mention in this thread:
W Alexis Arguello (ATG Top 50)
    W Samuel Serrano
    W Kuniaki Shibata
    W Bernardo Caraballo
    W Alfredo Marcano
    W Antonio Gomez
L Roberto Duran - no harm in that
    L Leonel Hernandez - I don't know the circumstances

    Vs
    Barrera
    Vs
    Rosenbloom
    Vs
    Foreman

Well done McGrain! This is a treat of a thread.

We could - and i'm just tossing it out there - we could do another twenty. Just for us. It would work as a guarantee we weren't missing anyone obvious.

I think Marcel deserves mention for 101-120; it's the way he dismantled such brilliant technicians as Shibata (one of the worst decisions ever) and Gomez (DOMINATION) as well as beating Arguello...and he looked good against Duran in what is arguably the worst stoppage ever (for not trying! In the last round!!!)

Not enough depth to make top 100 but as you all know I rank him over Pedroza who I'm keen on too.

Marcel is an ATG feather when you take into account the skill he displayed as well.

Nice shout Anj.BTW Hernandez was in his backyard but never found any substantial info' to corroborate the rumours I've heard over the years that Marcel probably nicked it.

The ones just missing out also in the pne on considered list I think would take it up to about 110 that would leave another 10 places , if you decide to that it could be interesting to see who would make up the last 5 places of the final ten

Batallino should make the last 10 list of the 120

are you gonna write up the results as an article or sticky the thread or something?

In the big picture, any new poster coming to this forum to learn (as i did 3 year ago) this gives them a great starting point.

Boosts the credibility of the forum somewhat as well seeing how so many names have chipped together to gain consensus like this.

I'm going to article it for sure.

Stickying threads...I really hate doing that, I just hate sticky threads. I already feel like we have too many. I might sticky it and unsticky the history of the coloured title thread when Rummy gets through with the decades thing. We'll see.

    Oscar De La Hoya

OK guys - i'm gonna move Oscar down. This is pretty much a done deal because there are excellent posts defnding his position in this thread. You all know I was concerned with introdcuing him at that point and in spite of his eloquent support it was only a matter of time before I moved him off.

The good news is, it's only one Tier. Those who have spoken up in support of him should feel please because I would have had him lower without that support.

I might still post about de la Hoya if that's ok, if I get time I would just like to state my position. Is that ok
