Okay, i guess i worded it incorrectly.

Monzon and Hagler in virtually every top 5, and are probably even one and two on most middleweight lists (even though i dont have them there). Olivares and Gavilan are great fighters who might make a top 5 list but also might not.

Olivares was a great fighter, but did he do as much in the bantam division as Ortiz, Herman, Barry, McGovern, Panama Brown etc. Possibly, and i would say a definite top 10 but he doesnt stand out from those guys (and the others who areguably close to his level) as much as Monzon and Hagler do. If nothing else, he was certainly knocked out more than those two guys and he didnt have the longevity of either.


Gavilan was also a great fighter. But as a welterweight, surely he has to be ranked behind Walker, Robinson, Whitaker, Delahoya, Walcott, Mayweather and Ryan just as a starting point. I really cant see much of an argument for Gavilan to be considered as great at his weight as Hagler and Monzon were at theirs.

Ryan, Robinson, Britton, Armstrong, Ross and Holman Williams are all welters I'd rank over Gavilan. You could also argue Walcott, Napoles, Leonard and Walker.

Outside Britton and Ryan (I have no knowledge on these two to have a solid opinion), I agree, and definitely Leonard and Walker. I think Hearns would be above Gavilan in my personal list as well (controversial opinion, I know).

My handle is unreal. I've been referred to as "The Second Coming of Pistol Pete," "Pistol Pete II," "The Ghost of Pistol Pete," and even "The Best Pistol Pete."

I too agree with the assessment that I handle Leonard and Floyd but struggle with the Latino mambo styled Napoles. I just lack the rhythm.
