Someone has to go from that last tier. Again though I'd even be fine with putting Basilio in X since I feel he rates over a lot of the very last tier. Maybe drop Lynch or Labarbara? Even putting him in tier x, maybe.

It's not like his resume is all that bad anyway. It can hold up to the resumes of of several guys who did make the cut. Great dominant streak, H2H monster, impressive longevity for a fighter of his style. I'd put him in there. I hate to pick on Zarate again (because McGrain seems to have some weird fetish for him :D), but how's he so much greater than Mike?

So yeah, I'd have Tyson there, but like I said, not a huge issue that he didn't find his way into the list.

Thing with Jones though, isn't that he was just so ridiculously dominant in his prime, it's that he was so ridiculously dominant for such a long time. Roy gave up a handful of rounds over the first decade+ and about 50 fights of his career. There was no Buster Douglas for him and he was basically untouchable his entire career up until he was shot. That's just stupid. He has to rate as highly as anyone for dominance and H2H ability, and he's got a pretty tidy resume and weight jumping feats and actually solid longevity at the top. So I think he absolutely deserves to be as high as he is.

I'd put Basilio in at Tier X, btw. I want MAB to stay though. JMM and Morales in and him out feels wrong to me. Maybe LaBarba gets the boot?

Ah, kills me to say this as I know we give delusional K fans **** for this but historically I don't see it was a hugely conclusive win. What I mean is it is a Lewis win and it bolsters his record but it's not his best win because of circumstance for me. Fair or not, just my take.

Two midgets, a blown up CW, a nutcase, and a disputable decision, Okay okay, I'm exaggerating. Point is these guys are all much much smaller relative to Ali, Chuvalo, Mathis, Bugner, Bonavena, Ellis, & Quarry is to Frazier. It means **** for an argument in ranking HWs but I sort of think it means something in a P4P list. Especially when the best names on that list is a shot Tyson and a faded Holyfield. You can have the others, I don't see it as enough to make your case.

I'll take Quarry & Ellis twice over a controversial Mercer decision and Tua win any-day. Tua was overrated. Huge power, awesome left hook, but ploddy and predictably one-note. Quarry was way, way better.

True, but it is not without meaning.

    Yep, hence Frazier over Lewis.

Admittedly I am biased. I have Frazier ahead even on a HW list, but I prefer dominance and quality over long reigns with blemishing losses. On a P4P list I just don't agree with Lewis ahead of Frazier.

He was the ****. I'd much rather see someone else go, like Toney or possibly even Herman.

Lewis' resume is awesome. O we're on the exact same page here.

    Ruddock
    Holyfield
    Tyson
    Mercer
    Klitschko
    Tua
    Grant
    Golota
    Rahman
    Briggs

    Can't be denied.

Yeah, looking over it now Zarate does seem glaringly high.

    Agreed, but it feels right...

Fair enough. But like you say if dominance and H2H ability are strong factors than Tyson can easily be above Zarate then.

Yeah, I said above or below Oscar depending on preference. I think Basilio is at least Tier X.

Are the names in order or just listed in the Tiers when you get this far down? I'm not sure who to boot. Not knowing much about LaBarba, I'm not overly impressed with what I can see of his record...

    Hell no. :twisted::twisted::twisted:

I can understand wanting to keep Morales and MAB in, but there are other names that could be bumped instead. LaBarba's resume from start to finish, was pretty insane and I just don't think that's something that one can deny.

It's not a greatest fighters lists it's a P4P list. Last thing on the Lewis vs Frazier argument. We will have to agree to disagree.

*Edit* Actually a last thing is that's why I'm not pushing Foreman. On a greatest fighters lists I would want him there for his unique achievement. But on a P4P list I'm more torn, and don't conclusive know how to evaluate it.

That really isn't all that impressive.

I mean, compared to the guys we're talking about, of course. I always thought highly of LL's resume, but in just a only-Heavyweight discussion I guess. This P4P top 100 stuff makes it look a tad mediocre.

Anyway, who we bumping for Basilio? I like the call on Herman, but I'm not terribly familiar with him. Toney could slide as well.

Yeah, the tiers are in order but the fighters inside each tier are yet to be placed in order. Being last in a tier doesn't mean anything as of now.
