I'd put Jones higher on my personal list so seeing Jones so high on MacG's makes me warm and fuzzy

As does Tunney outside the top 30. :smoke

We both rank McLarnin and Canzoneri ahead of Hagler and Hearns.

It's true, but Leonard bridged an incredible gap to Hagler, both in terms of time and weight. Leonard shouldn't be beating Hagler any more than Duran should be speaking of Leonard...speaking of Duran, Leonard of course beat a fighter ranked higher than any of them.

More, head to head Hearns is among the very greatest of welterweights and Hagler is among the very greatest of middleweights and regardless of their unquestioned greatness, beating Hearns at WW and Hagler at MW is a huge task, I would say tougher than beating McLarnin and Canzoneri respectively. Arguable, though.

There is a reason Holy/Lewis 1 and Trinidad/Oscar were in the same year.

    All great points.

Leonard's victories over Hearns/Hagler may have been more difficult -- but they have their controversy. Almost balances the 'wins' out, if you will.

And Ross beat Canzoneri and McLarnin twice.

    Canzoneri
    Canzoneri
    McLarnin
    McLarnin

    Hearns
    Hagler
    Duran
    Duran

And after this, I think Ross' depth really pulls it put for him (Garcia 3x, Jannazo, Battilino, Farr, Miller, Hess, Datto, Fuller, Nebo, Pacho 2x, Baby Gans, Wallace, Woods, Manfredo 2x, Sherman, Burke, etc.,).

But we could drag this out all day. I guess I see how it can go either way.

I have to agree with you. I had it 9-3. It might be Oscar's best performance  But it's not the crux upon which this thread turns or even Oscar's ranking in it. There's no point, imo, in debating it because it just doesn't matter. Could get nasty, probably best left :thumbsup
