So what, hopkins is far far more comfortable as middleweight than trinidad, hopkins should really have been fighting at 175 for most of his career if he wasn't always in such good shape, i agree that hopkins skills where a major factor and it is a very good win, however i don't particuarly fell that a guy who is all time top 5 middle beating trinidad is a top 5 win of the century, he had all the advantages going into the fight and wasn't going out of the comfort zone which is what i like to see, i view winky beating trinidad as a better more significant win TBH
Hopkins-Trinidad was much more significant than Wright-Trinidad. Huge upset via thorough and clinical beating.
Disagree, wright was coming up in weight to face trinidad who looked brilliant against mayorga, trinidad was moving up at the time to face hopkins who is a top 5 ATG at middle, he should always have beat trinidad always. Wright went out of his comfort zone hopkins didn't, and wright schooled him just as much
...looked brilliant against Mayorga? Not the hardest thing to do. One can't honestly think Wright's win over Tito was more significant the Bernard's? Silly...:bart
Not the hardest thing to do against joppy either so, it was more significant as hopkins is a far better middleweight an ATG at the weight and should always have beat trinidad, its not as significant as some wins as hopkins never went out of his comfort zone where other fighters have.
Wright did jab the crap out of him, it was a good win. But I still think Hopkins-Tito was way bigger. It's the fight that really cemented Hopkins' place in middleweight history. Don't forget he was an underdog! I could be biased cuz I really loved that win. Oh and about looking great against Mayorga, that's no accomplishment! the guy's a punching bag.. he even smokes cigarettes :rasta
Trinidad was rated P4P #1 or 2 at the time of the Hopkins fight and was undefeated. The Tito that fought Winky was not a prime Trinidad and was comng off of a 7 month layoff. I don't understand how you can possibly rank Wright's win above Hopkin's win...in terms of significance or any thing else for that matter. Yeah Wright was coming up in weight but Tito was fighting at 147 for years while Winky was at junior middleweight so to say that Trinidad was the bigger guy is a bit silly to me. I respect your opinion but fail to see how Wright's win is in anyway more impressive than Hopkin's. Plus, Hokpins won via TKO not decsision.
Without thinking about it too hard: Hopkins vs Trinidad Hopkins vs Tarver Jones vs Ruiz Barrera vs Hamed Pacquiao vs Barrera HMs to Lewis vs Klitschko, Mayweather vs Corrales and Hatton vs. Tszyu
That kind of the point there Tito was fighting at 147 for years, he never really did anything at 160 worthy of being seen as a great win for a brilliant fighter there, so how can that be seen as a top line significant win for hopkins an ATG 160 fighter, let me give another example of this, i would view malagnaggi beating hatton more signficant in terms of what it does to there legacy than i did for floyd to beat him as floyd a level above hatton and always would be similar to hopkins beating trinidad at his most natural weight. Wright win was more important to there legacy IMO
you can also pick any of Linares or Valeros wins from theyre record, its full of future hall of famers.
