Joe Smith was like a LHW version of Shavers IMO - freakishly powerful puncher who was limited/mediocre in most other areas.

Eh, I don’t compare Kovalev and Beterbiev beside men like Foster because those guys were or are probably about 190-195lbs.

Not sure too many 175 pounders could have done what Roy Jones did to Montell Griffin or Virgil Hill. Not a consistent KO artist like Foster, but Jones was capable of performances that would have made any banger in the history of the division proud.

He's not quite on the level of those fighters but I think Eddie Mustafa Muhammad had good power in his right hand. His KO of Lottie Mwale was scary I believe he knocked a few of his teeth out aswell.

As for some other candidates ?

RJJ was a big puncher at Light Heavyweight.

Tavoris Cloud was a fairly big puncher 20 KOs in 25 wins.

Antonio Tarver is a big puncher.

Dariusz Michalczewski 38 KOs in 48 wins.

Thomas Hearns at Light Heavyweight still had serious power.

Marvin Johnson 35 KOs in 43 wins.

Donny Lalonde deserves a mention his right hand had serious power in it.

Qawi was a very good puncher at Lt.Heavy.
It's when he started going up in weight
is when he started losing power.
The " Ole Mongoose " Archie
Moore had the most ko's in the history
    of the sport.
Got to be on the list somewhere....

A contender level guy who could bang when he was in his prime was Richard Hall.

    Hi Buddy.
Good call, another contender who could bang was Frankie De Paula, sure he put Foster down in a hectic defense of his title.
    stay safe Seamus, chat soon.

I think an interesting question is who hits harder between Beterviev and Kovalev.

Hmm? I'd go Beterbiev though Kovalev had heavy hands when a whiskey glass wasn't in them
