RJJ should be on this list.

Sorry Russell but Nigel Benn at middleweight was a helluva puncher, much more so than when he moved up to super middleweight. Benn stopped his first 22 opponents before Michael Watson beat him in 1989 - at 160lbs the guy was a destroyer and he did manage to stop Doug Dewitt, something that even Tommy Hearns wasn't able to do. Whether he's top 10 of all time is another matter but he's definately in with a shout I'd say.

To my namesake who thinks that RJJ shouldn't be considered as a top middleweight puncher you need to look again at his record there. Although he didn't stay at middleweight that long he stopped almost every opponent he fought. RJJ was a genuine banger at 160lbs.

My list would be in no order:

    Valdez
    Hart
    Jackson
    McCellan
    Hearns
    Obelmejias*
    Ketchel
    Fitzsimmons
    Mugabi
    Langford

*Might swap this guy for Benn as many of Obelmejias's KOs were scored in Venezuela and Mexico against very unquantifiable opponents. Still, check all those straight KOs.

Right. For a single punch Monzon hit harder than Hagler, with the right of course.
