The fighter taking the punishment isn't the only one affected either. Killing or seriously harming a fighter often causes long lasting trauma, and can seriously affect or even basically end people's careers.

A fighter may be willing to get killed in the ring to slightly improve their chance of winning, but their opponent might not be happy to be in a fight where they have such a chance to inflict so much damage on another person.

Sometimes we have to protect people against themselves. The more I think about it, the more I think a "let the fighter decide how much punishment he's willing to take" rule is not a viable option.

Goldstein was criticized for stopping the Robinson v Turpin rematch too early, the difference being ,if you err on the side of caution you potentially rob a fighter of his chance of winning and the fans of a correct result. If you leave it too late to stop a fight you potentially rob a fighter of his life, or leave the door open for him to incur lasting physical/mental damage.
Referees are human, they make mistakes, but like goalies, their mistakes are more readily apparent.I've seen Halpern .Nady, etc have good nights and a couple of not so good ones. One referee I'm not a fan of is Brit Ian John Lewis ,He was criminal in not stopping the Vitali v Briggs fight imo.
A fighter being hammered is not the the best judge of whether he should be rescued by the referee or not .eg Chuvalo v Foreman,Chuvalo thought Big George was getting tired, yeah right, another few big shots and Chuvalo maybe would not still be able to entertain us with his lucid conversation.

Just a theory, offensive minded tough guys who produce action landing fouls above belt during their attack are sometimes tolerated. But no one like low blows.

I've seen Golota bite, head butt, and throw low blows.

So you are a sissy girl now, when did that ideation begin for you? Did you get jealous because of Robyn Givens running off with your hero Mike Tyson? You need to quit calling yourself names, as far as your childhood goes, you are in denial. Please get some help, you seem like a good person with a lot of issues. Whatever you say is just a reflection of you.

With all due respect, losing your life in the ring is certainly not worth it, or drooling all over yourself for the rest of your life is not worth it. Just to satisfy a lot of bloodthirsty fans is really not worth it. Like the referee says during his instructions, Protect Yourself At All Times, fighters should remember that. A person who believes in God should not want to see a person tragically die in the ring. Protecting your family from harm is worth it, not to satisfy people's emotions, if I have offended you im any way, I apologize as you have always been a good poster.
