    couple of mis conceptions here,

the fight was sold out at 78k (the 80k Sky kept saying was just rounded up to make it sound better).

The empty seats in the stadium werent unused these were seats never on sale (the capacity of 78k was agreed by wembley local council etc not the capcity of the stadium thats around 90k plus the extra ones on the pitch)

I fail to see how touting cannot be made illegal?

If you want to resell a ticket, you can charge face value, the postage you paid plus any additional postage needed to send it on. That's it.

I don't know about making it illegal, but surely something needs to be done. Prehaps limit the mark-up? Maybe 20% of face value + a couple of quid for postage?

    So a £40 ticket could be re-sold at £50 maximum or a £100 at £125

touting football tickets is illegal which stops the lads hangoing around outside etc but thats not the biggest problem thesedays its those secondary site. Football clubs have actually struck deals with those etc.

    They won't make those illegal

Of course not, because politicians are scum who take back handers.

In an ideal world it would be very easy to stop this from happening but they will never do it.

I am saying that the scum ticket agencies and touts should be prevented from mass purchase of tickets and selling the tickets for any more than 10% above face value.

Fair enough then, I will use my courier company that charges me £100 or 100% of the face value of goods, whichever is more, for insurance purposes. I know it is expensive, but that company is the only one I trust...

But why? Surely it is just smart? If you really wanted to go to the fight, you would pay the surcharge. If not, then I guess you do not think it is worth it, or you cannot afford it.

    Sorry, but touts are scum.

There is no logical argument to touting. It's despicable.

There is a very logical argument for touting; it can make money! That is ultimately what 'Professional' Boxing is about.

I don't think they sold out the 20k fight tickets that came with coach travel. I heard they stopped selling them the Monday before. I'm sure those weren't sold out.

So big boxing events should only be open to people who can pay over the odds for it? Its dear enough as it is without being bumped on it more. Unfortunately yes we do live in a pro free market economy to the degree were that one line argument is put forward to defend anything that shits on regular people. Yes i think there should be more regulation /rules whatever you want to call it regards to these sites/businesses who are basically legal touts. Its double standards too, a fella on a street corner at anfield say can get charged and prosocuted for touting, were as rip off thomas cook matchday gimp tour deals are perfectly legal.

Boxing is ultimately an entertainment, and if the interest is there then you will have to pay more, and may indeed be pushed out the market, even if there were structures in place to allegedly stop it. I personally would not want any Government looking too closely at the sport, because they may conclude that it is so corrupt, it would be best just to ban it. Regulating touts could open Pandora's box...
