What a travesty Arguably the most devastating wrecking ball in all of boxing and he remains more or less an unknown, with no one willing to step up and even try He'll go down as one of the biggest waste of talents of all time

I agree. It's a shame. Hopefully Ward or Kovalev fight him soon, although I doubt it. I almost wonder if he should have gone up to cruiser for the WBSS tournament, he has the frame to move up and competed at HW in the amateurs. He's better than Shumenov IMHO, who also went up from LHW, so he could do some damage. That way at least he'd get paid far more than what he'd get against either Ward or Kovalev, and have the chance to become great, even if his chances of beating Usyk, Gassiev, and Briedis are slim.
Thankfully he has a fight lined up with Enrico Koelling either in July or August. Thereafter he will be no.1 IBF contender! I will be upset if Ward gives Beterbiev step aside money so Ward can pursue other no.1 contenders from other belts.
I think he's shown natural strength to be able to hang in Cruiser but he says he walks around at 187.4lbs. He's going to need a legit roid cycle to get up to 200. When he fought at HW in amateurs, he was small for the weight. He also confirmed on that link Beouche posted that he's going to stay and aim for the belts at LHW until a very big challenge arises. I'd prefer him at Cruiser at that brilliant tournament than in this depressing situation. Confirmation of weight - http://allboxing.ru/news/20150131-1948/intervyu-s-arturom-beterbievym
It's a real shame, we all want to know just how good he is, but I doubt he'll get the chance to show it. Same thing happened to Golovkin to a lesser degree.
Spot on. Naysayer trolls hard until the inevitable happens and he gets a vacation. Then one of his pals comes on station.
This is the problem with brilliant amateurs turning pro too late, I guess. This should be a message to the promising amateurs that they should consider turning pro by age 24 very latest. Even Loma is getting old at 29 and lacks a marquee name let alone a few.
I'm maybe not as big a fan of Artur as you are, but I am a fan. And I agree. He needs to get new management, and cram his schedule to the max. Even if he's beating the socks off no-hopers, it's ok, so long as he's doing like six or seven losers a year. That's the Tyson strategy, and seeing him savage some dude every month catapulted him to stardom. Beterbiev needs to do something and fast.
