Thats the thing. If Kenny wasnt prepared to do it, theyd just get somoeone else in who would be. Such a corrupt sport
Totally untrue Tony Weekes called that fight straight down the middle. He let BOTH Floyd & Marcos fight their fights the way they always do. He didn't call Floyd on any number of fouls did he?? Bayless on the other hand was a disgrace the way he protected Floyd like a mother hen cossets her chicks. Floyd is used to the officials favouring him. Like Joe Cortez stopped Ricky Hatton from fighting Bayless did same thing blatantly giving Maidana no chance The only reason you Floyd fanatics diss Tony Weekes is because you know as well as I do Maidana really beat Floyd in 1. That's 2 losses Floyd should really have Maidana 1 & Castillo 1 I have no objection in Bayless calling a halt in theprevious fight Ruiz was getting hammered & obviously had no chance I too used to rate Kenny Bayless until the Maidana 2 fight. Whether he was paid off or intimidated by the Mayweathers he certainly messed up his career with thayt display. I was glad to see Tony Weekes get the main event last night over Bayless he deserved it
disgrace because the very second mayweather would clinch bayless would split it up even though maidana had a free hand and was landing legal shot with it, not once did bayless tell them to fight out of the clinch or warn mayweather for excessive clinching.
You need to learn the rule of boxing my friend. Floyd was EXCESSIVELY holding. His elbow smashes too Floyd is a dirty fighter. What put the icing on the cake with Bayless was when Maidana got sick of Floyd holding & elbowing & retaliated. Bayless took a point from Maidana for what Floyd does EVERY fight he is in That was the nail in Bayless coffi9n
I agree with the OP, i used to think Bayless was 1 of the 3 best refs but no longer. Smoger is clearly the best currently, followed by Weeks. Weeks also did fine in the first Floyd vs Maidana fight, both fighters were being dirty. Bayless still has a way to go though to even be remotely as bad as Cortez.
Are you kidding me? Smoger almost allowed Kirkland to kill Tapia. When stopping the fight, when Tapia was out on his feet, Smoger grabs Tapia not Kirkland. The last shot Kirkland landed could have killed Tapia. Inexcusable.
He tries too hard to be the third man in the ring! Wants to ensure that everyone notices him as well. As of late he has been interjecting himself needlessly. He needs to just stay the hell out of the way and let the fighters fight! Also needs to understand that we are there to see the fighters not him!!!!!
Re: Ruiz: My feeling is this; when a guy is down by a mile, soft punching, and outclassed, but "gutsy", why let him get beaten into the ground. Another minute of that on the ropes and he doesn't fight for a year...at least. Re: Bayless; he was always one of the best and still is, although that bar really isn't too high. Re: Weeks; he was paid off by someone! He's usually one of the best as well, but it wasn't a Muai Thai match. His work was awful in that fight, and I think Bayless saw all of that stupid **** that Maidana did in the first fight and didn't want it to get out of control.
