i give kessler his props for finishing the fight, but that's kind of his job. ward really did put on a clinic in that fight. he forced kessler to fight his fight and there was absolutely nothing kessler could do. it didn't really look like those headbutts were intentional to me and i really don't think ward's a fighter who intentionally tries to fight dirty.

I don't feel the least bit bad for Kessler. Look at the position of the guy's head and shoulders at all times. He's always completely erect, straight up in the air. He has to protect himself at all times. If he got butted that's on him. LITERALLY. He's begging for it. Kessler couldn't get out of the way of anything, LEAST OF ALL Ward's PUNCHES. It's a ****ing fight. They gave him the technical decision, he doesn't have to bear the shame of a TKO on his record. He's lucky he got that much. He got his ass beat.

Kessler just ain't a dirty fighter so he did not know how to respond. Not his fault he has learned to box in a clean fashion. Ward did what he had to and took every advantage going. That's what happens sometimes when you box in another country but I was hoping a tournament like this would be as fair as possible. Shame really

He's better. I'm not saying he'd have beaten Ward, or that he would ever beat Ward, even on his best day, but that was not the best Kessler that we've seen. I'm positive that he would fair better in a rematch, though I think Ward still wins.

Well, it's a tournament. The fairness is that all of these guys get more than one shot at making it through to the next round and getting a rematch. If he's really learned from the experience I expect him to be a much hungrier and more motivated fighter in the next two rounds.

NAH, Kessler is a stiff, inflexible, robotic fighter, and the concept of bending and rotating at the waist is a foreign concept to him. Using angles are a foreign concept to him. That's why Ward landed with his punches AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. That's why Kessler was there to be butted when Ward would finish his leads and combos after falling in. Kessler's stiff and stationary feet, neck, and head were the cause of the headbutts. Kessler ALLOWED Ward's head to come in contact with his own. OVER and OVER and OVER. If you think it's Ward's job to worry about Kessler's MISTAKES or alter his own fighting style because Kessler is a human statue, you need your head examined. This isn't soccer.

i have to agree with this one. kessler was clueless against ward. he was getting picked apart and had no answers.

I will always be a big Kessler fan. So much to respect and like about the guy.

I didn't make excuses. I'm simply saying that he didn't look sharp. I'm aware that he has limitations but even within those limitations that was a worse version of Kessler than I've seen in other fights.

I was under the impression Ward gave a beatdown to Kessler no rematch needed.
