Although he's already said he hasn't retired, he was making a point about the media running every story.
Yeah, when in this case it was very likely with current events and circumstances taken in mind. It's not like this was coming out of left field
Did Fury make an official announcement that he was retired? If not then he's still the HW champion...
Completely. The most consistent is 1v2 when a title is officially vacated but the problem then is who chooses 1v2
If Pacquiao made an official announcement that he was retired after the Bradley rubber match then NO, I wouldn't consider Pacquiao lineal @ 147..
Your ratings are starting to look a bit wacky now in a few places. No top 10 for Nicholas Walters, number 2 for Vetyeka the chap has not beaten a top 50 fighter for nearly 3 years and is quite old. No place for Frankie Gomez despite his recent win over someone you rank, same with Lamont Peterson who is unranked. Manny not ranked also.
Walters announced he was leaving featherweight and so was removed from those rankings. His one fight at super-featherweight was a draw. Not top ten in either division for this reason. Being "quite old" doesn't drop you down our rankings. Vetyeka is top 4 at the weight, i'm satisfied of that, though the particulars are questionable, by which I mean 2,3 or 4 would all be fine for me. Peterson is below Diaz, but since that fight Diaz has beaten Vazquez. Peterson meanwhile is but 1-1 at the weight. However I think this might be worth a second look. Was removed from the rankings when he retires; will be re-introduced if he fights again and wins. Gomez - beat Herrera at 147lbs, is ranked at 140lbs.
Ali also un-retired about a month later. So, while I agree his retirement made the lineal HW title vacant, I also believe he became the #1 contender when he un-retired a month later. I see no way how any other HW besides Holmes could have been ranked #2 behind Ali so the Ali-Holmes contest established a new lineage..
