Thank you for the responses Stonehands89 and McGrain! Really appresiated! Two more question if you dont mind. What are you guys doing to finance the operations? ...and most importantly, how we (the community of fans) contribute with donations of cash or time? Thank you!
There is no money involved in this. No one is paid. We have no ads and nothing for sale. Every member is a volunteer. The reason for all this is simple: we want to stay clean and clear, and money muddies the water. The profit motive is history's great compromiser. Boxing needs and deserves uncompromised rankings and a clear path to the true divisional champions. We want everyone to know that whether or not you agree with our rankings or our rankings system, we're not doing them for the wrong reasons. (Why don't we have belts to offer the true champions, you ask? Because we can't afford them!) But thank you for the offer! I'm tempted! Just today I got word from my mechanic that repairs to my Camaro will cost me $1300! But I'll stick up a bank before selling out on the Transnational Boxing Rankings!
Are there background checks on the voting members to determine if they have any conflicts of interest? Do we know their ages? Their qualifications? No offense intended, but I'm a bit skeptical of spokespersons and voting members known only by usernames.
You have every right to be cynical. What's that quote? --"The cynic is either proven right or pleasantly surprised." McGrain is McGrain -no secret there. I'm Springs Toledo. We've both been on ESB for many years before the rankings board began functioning, thus the usernames. We don't have the resources to conduct in-depth background checks on our members, but we make it known that any compromising connections with promoters, sanctioning bodies, and the like, are disqualifiers. We check ourselves as best we can and ask for a statement confirming that the recruit satisfies that specific requirement. Besides all that, everyone is in plain view --See here for a list of names and bios of members: http://www.tbrb.org/members/
That's what I was looking for -- something with real names, not usernames. Obviously a very worthy and diverse group of people involved and not just anonymous message board posters like myself. The background check question was assuming that people weren't going by their real names -- i.e. for all you know I could work for Bob Arum (I don't, but you get my point), as could anyone on the voting panel if we didn't know who they are in real life. My fear was the credentials would be something like "Dempsey Fan has more than 20,000 posts on message boards and correctly predicted the winner of 75 percent of HBO and Showtime main events. He also watches a lot of fights on cable TV." Thanks for the transparency. That is the first step to credibility.

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying - you're saying Adamek is ranked above Stiverne and you don't like that?
i don't feel he should be ranked above Stiverne in the least he hasn't got the power and based upon similar opponents he has been out performed by Bermane as well. I don't think bermane is getting his just dues maybe when he finally he gets the opportunity to fight for the belt we will see him go all out and win the WBC Heavyweight Championship of the World.
Don't believe the hype; the WBS organizations have nothing at all to do with identifying champions of the world, unless by mere coincidence.
So breaking one's nose elevates your status? Just a wild guess here but i do believe Adamek has beat more ranked and notable fighters than Stiverne. Fact is Arreola is the ONLY name Stiverne has beat. If TBR went by your logic Adamek should be above Pulev since there common opponent is Walker and Adamek took him out in 5 while Pulev went the distance.
Why is Takayama #1 at Strawweight when he's 2-3 with 1 no contest in his last 6 fights? And the guy who beat him right before he beat Rico Ramos like champion Rodriguez, isn't even ranked. But the biggest problem with the Strawweight rankings: No Ali Raymi. :-(
Rodriguez was the #1 when Takayama beat him in March; it's a good old fashioned usurping. It's arguable, but he's not outside any top 5 ranking i've seen and is #1 or #2 on all the decent independent ones. I think it's reasonable. If you're talking about Handig, he isn't really a minimumweight I don't think. I count two wins at minimum? ...I actually saw Raymi recently in a top 15, might have been Fightnews, so you may not be kidding.
