I'm fairly adamant that level of opposition is most important -overall, on total record for "all-time" and "recent" for p4p lists. However, "current form" which is mentioned in the charter also matters more and more, I'm finding. Yes, it's subjective, but so isn't boxing.

Jones's DQ is a loss, technically, but I'd probably argue that a DQ constitutes an 'unfinished fight' and would thus be reluctant to do much unless he was getting spanked before getting DQ'd, which he wasn't.

The Board applied the robbery clause to Pacquiao-Bradley (the only time it was activated and circumstances allowed it) and counted it as a win for Pacquiao, not a loss. I would too.

Update summary for the 17 December Rankings:

Updates, 17 December: ***If welterweight Adrien Broner follows the
Transnational Boxing Rankings (and he should), he’ll find that his trials
aren’t over: The Board overwhelmingly voted to drop him down from #9 to out-of-the-top-ten based on his loss to Marcos Maidana (now #6) and the strong opinion that tenth-ranked Paulie Malignaggi deserves to remain in based on his fine showing in his past two bouts.

If that wasn’t enough, Broner also lost his #1 ranking at lightweight because he has two bouts at welterweight and we have an inactivity clause in the charter.

Meanwhile, Keith Thurman, boxer-puncher and frightening finisher, stopped Jesus Soto-Karras and takes the seventh spot beneath the vacant throne. It’s a deep and dangerous welterweight division.

At lightweight, Broner’s exit brings in a young lion from Texas named Omar Figueroa.

Sam Soliman’s impressive performance at middleweight earns him a move up from #8 to #7.

At Light heavyweight, Gabriel Campillo (#10) is bumped out by Beibut Shumenov who returns in winning form and Juergen Braehmer moves up two spots.***

    Merry Christmas!

Updates in the feather and Jr. featherweight division. Chris John retires and a new entry comes in at #10, featherweight while Kiki Martinez climbs up several spots and Mathebula passes him on the way down to #10, Jr. feather....

Well the hope is that they won't be saying that in fifty years.

You can see the archive of what the TBRB has done so far, here:

Well who knows, but more and more people are joining in. Asian Boxing, the website, just made them their "official" rankings.

^ That was in May 2013. Since then, we have managed to crown three more for a total of EIGHT.

Thus, four were crowned by The Ring, and four were crowned by the Board.

    Here's how it happened: http://www.tbrb.org/successions/

See here: http://www.tbrb.org/all-rankings/ for who has to fight who (1 vs. 2, no soft-headed exceptions) to take the remaining thrones.

I do love the Flyweight succession. Be nice to have one or two more like that in a few years.

He is the mouthpiece of TBRB here on the forum, and, reciprocally, the advocate for ideas & opinions from here presented to his TBRB peers.
