Rumsfeld, in formation! I think it pointed, straight away, to the end of Martinez as a prize-fighter tbh. Whether it's the knee or his inability to recover from the hook, it spells the same thing - he's not up to it any more at that kind of level. Someone had to benefit. What about you?
I more or less agree, but I am curious if you wouldn't mind expanding on the "knee vs inability to recover from the hook"? A little from column A and a little from B, I reckon.
Hello, men. I said before the fight that it reminded me of Peter-Vitali in that the result was entirely dependent upon what the more injury-worn fighter had left, sharpness, physical sustainability, mental surety. It's not just a question of his knee collapsing, is it?
Largely. Even before the hook, he looked like he was dragging that right foot around. No spring. And would the hook have even landed if the knee was fine? Cotto made history and I'm happy for him. He hasn't always got the breaks. But against a healthy Martinez...? I don't think so.
I mean his poor health isn't just a question of the knee collapsing. Also, it didn't really collapse, not like Foreman's knee did. Worse for Martinez.
