It's amazing these threads are up for all this time, yet it can go weeks without anyone posting to it.
Yes, i,m also new one at this forum and watching fantastic stats on this forum and when i visit this thread, i view some amazing stuff. Thanks.
I agree. I can't see Crolla or Flanagan getting to number 1 at LW. But once Luke Campbell takes the belt I think he could easily do it.
The website itself is quite up to date I find. They also archive every month which is very good because it just about overlaps with the boxrec ring archive that I stopped updating in 2012.
The website at tbrb.org is updated without fail every Tuesday, ET. This thread is monitored primarily by member Matt McGrain, who is as busy as the other 50 members on the rankings board. I try to pitch in here as well but every member on the board is a volunteer and straining for time. Right now, McGrain is probably up to his eyebrows examining every welterweight in history. The poor slob. Our "official monthly rankings" are archived every month. They are a nod to boxing historians who have used The Ring's ratings from 1928 when they went from annual to monthly. Fast forward to May 2012 and three of what became the founding members of the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, resigned from the Ring ratings advisory panel in protest. We recruited about 17 more members from around the world by October 2012 when our inaugural rankings were published. We went from monthly to weekly in December 2012, but still saw the need for official monthly rankings. What you see on that tab are the rankings published the second Tuesday of every month --the official monthly rankings. By the way, our THIRD ANNIVERSARY was in October. Ken is good all right! He's a member/record-keeper out of New York who is joined by Mauricio Salvador of Mexico (who monitors and updates the records of the higher weight classes) and Retech Son of the Philippines (who monitors inactivity). There are also three chairs who propose initial rankings changes to get the debate and discussion started on the forum. "Oversight" who makes sure the charter is being followed. Stewart Howe is our Tech, who designs and maintains the website. He's a critical man. The labor is divided up to make what is a free service to boxing manageable.
And yet another class act, giving me even more faith in the integrity and credibility of the admirable efforts you guys collectively put forth. Great job everyone! Please keep up the great work! :cheers
Man, thanks. The stars were aligned for this thing to work and the number-one reason why it does work is because of the dispositions of the people involved. We have 50 members and no head cases. Thank God. Boxing writers have a well-earned bad reputation. That was my first concern when we started this thing. Too many have oversized egos exacerbated by sissy-like sensitivities and should have been smacked around more in high school. I recall someone asking whether we have a litmus test. Damn right we have a damn litmus test! And it begins with this --don't be a head case!
