Hopefully the stars continue being aligned, because the timing couldn't be better with the hopelessly corrupt and incompetent actions of the various alphabet factions.

I wish you and the committee of dedicated volunteers all the best going forward, and hope that you guys continue to gain mainstream acceptance in the boxing world while remaining true to form as your scope of influence expands.

Stewart Howe, a founding member and Tech, suggested that we, the Board, do something to emphasize that Tyson "Under Fire" Fury is the true champion and media muppets ought to cease and desist from claiming Deontay Wilder is what he is not (at least not yet).

Stewart speaks and I listen. Take a moment and read this. It's a short one:

    "The Heavyweight King"

I actually read that a few days ago.

Every big championship fight in any fractured division needs an article like that.

It can dismiss any and other title claims whilst accepting the shortcomings of the current champion should it be required.

It was a great piece to read.

How about if he beats Stevenson and Ward?

Are you just throwing out an approximation or is that your actual placement from a real list you constructed?

That's from a real list i constructed homie.

If he beats a whole pile of other good fighters he shoot up for sure, but i overranked Kovalev a little bit on expectation which happens with active guys who make it onto a list but haven't reached the top of the hill yet.

    Hey Matt,

Just some food for thought. In theory, if Inoue beats Gonzalez and Ward beats Kovalev/Barrera. Who would you place at the top of your p4p list?

Gonzalez definitely is the higher ranked fighter as of this moment on many peoples' lists, but with Ward having the better legacy overall and stamping his place as the best 175er (An extremely stacked weight division and beating one of the scariest fighters out there), who would you tip the nod to?

I think Sergey seems like a special fighter, but some questions definitely still remain.

How many of the 40 ranked ahead of him would you definitely favor over him H2H based on the information we currently have available?

I don't think any LHW fighter in history can afford to stand and trade with him. His power really is monstrous.

He has three question marks for me

    1) how sturdy is his chin? Would it crumble from a solid hook thrown by Spinks, Foster or Jones?

    2) how fit is his stamina, can he keep Qawi om the back foot for 12 full rounds and if not will he wilt under pressure?

    3) how adept is he at cutting off the ring against an elite opponent? Could Tunney, Jones, Conn just dance around him and evade him for 12 rounds?

He can answer the latter question against Ward and the first question against Stevenson. No one has been able to make him fight at a high pace aside from maybe Pascal so the second's gonna be tougher to answer.

My gut says he is durable and can fight for 12 rounds but can be maneuvered around the ring. I wouldn't expect Galindez or Tiger to beat him but I would expect Jones or Conn to beat him.

Excellent post, and I more or less agree with it all. I too tend to believe that Sergey will pass the tests of durability, punch resistance, and stamina. And I would say the biggest question still revolves around the degree at which he can be maneuvered. We know he can be maneuvered somewhat, as old man Hopkins was able to use all of his tricks to bide his time and go 12. But this came at the cost of having a non-existent offense.

So could someone like Ward maneuver Kovalev favorably enough to avoid his power while mounting some type of effective offense of his own.

Therein lies the intrigue of Kovalev-Ward.
