trinidad was not struggling to make 154, he just didn't want to anymore, just like he doesn't want to make 160.

lol they use the same argument to discredit his win over Oscar. Oscars' best weight and most significant wins came at 154 and Hopkins fought and knocked him out closer to the 154 lb limit than 160lbs.

Trinidad was prime, undefeated and had significant wins at 154-160 before the Hopkins execution.

I respectfully, disagree. I'm from PR. I live 5 minutes from Tito's house (I even went to a meeting at his house once) and I use to be in his team of tax attorneys and I can tell you from first hand knowledge that he never had problems making 147. The reason he moved to 154 was due to the fact that they were unable to secure the rematch with DLH and at that time there weren't any other meaningful fights @ 147.

Trinidad was a very very small middleweight, He could pop sure but physically his body structure was TINY for that weight. He was tall but was a little stick at 147lbs. That weight he fought at for a while and he moved up to his perfect weight at 154lbs a weight he should have stayed at. He raped Joppy harder than anyone else has but once you fight a guy thats bigger than you and won't get KO'd like Hopkins everything will go downhill for a fighter like Tito. Trinidad had every single disadvantage in his fight with Hopkins. Trinidad DEFINITELY was blown up at 160lbs. You can't even compare his ability speed and power at 147/154 to what he looked like at 160. IMO He looked like garbage at 160lbs even with Joppy, His power was there but his speed took a major hit. Look how fast he was with David Reid and compare that to how he looked against Hopkins...The Trinidad that fought Hopkins was nothing compared to how Trinidad showed up against Reid. Point being Hopkins beat a Trinidad that was not fighting at his ideal weight at all

I agree with you. The problem I see though, is that Tito is delusional and believes that his punching power can hurt big guys. He does not have the boxing ability to outscore the big game in this point in his career either. The funny thing is that in that elimination tournament, Joppy was supposed to be the man to beat according to most experts.

Tito was not struggling to make 154. He moved up because Don King put together a very lucrative tournament in which Tito would make a shitload of money at middleweight.

That being said, even though I think 154 was his best weight, Tito was no smaller than any other middleweight. Hell I remember when the tournament started Tito, Joppy, Hopkins and Holmes all stood next to one another and Tito looked to be the biggest of the 4. He also KO'd Joppy very easily something that about 40 other middleweights were never able to do. I think Tito would have beaten any other middleweight outside of hopkins that night.

    Sorry to cut in here.
I don't recall the exact weight, but i do remember it was only a few pounds he'd gained, very little. Don't you have a copy of the fight? Because they did mention it, i believe.
