I wouldn't necessarily call that PPV he headlined a win in GGG's favor. 150k is pathetic. That means that more people watched paint dry than watched that fight.

I'm sure Ward would rather not have headlined a card that did 150K. That's actually worse than pathetic, when I think of the word I'll let you know. I know you were expecting me to say he hasn't, so you could say EXACTLY.. Again bro, if I were GGG, I woudn't wanna own that. lol

couldn't agree more mayweather has brainwashed everyone into focusing on number of PPV's rather than the excitement they bring to the ring.....I wonder how much of his PPV numbers were actually a result of people wanting to see him get KTFO.

So, it's Mayweather's fault that GGG has a sense of entitlement, and didn't go for the Ward fight because Ward would back down to his "A" side demands although he hasn't proved anything in this sport yet. How did I miss out on that.

Early reports saying Golovkin/Lemieux only did about 150K which isn't great. But it's his first PPV and the network will still be happy as Golovkin was only paid $2 million and Lemiuex $1.5 million, so HBO still made a good profit.

So I wouldn't say Golovkin was a proven PPV draw just yet, though the live gate was very good and Golovkin doesn't seem to be making crazy financial demands so will likely still be backed heavily by HBO as he still makes them money.

HBO is trying to rushed this 33 year old fighter to success. They are using his nationality as appeal. He doesn't mind being a ***** as long as he does not have to fight a talented Black fighter.
He ducked Ward , Lara, fought Monroe and is about to fight Johnson. Prays that he gets to beat up a 5'7" fighter in Cotto or Hopes Oscar sacrifices his king (Canelo) to the HBO pawn GGG.
The MACHINE has backed K2 whether they destroy GBP or not is the question?

Being truthful, those numbers sucked and it's NOT Golovkin's fault.

Golovkin has fought contender level fighters. He isn't known enough. It's like Mayweather getting a PPV after beating Manfredy!

There's not enough hype being built by their marketing team. The HBO boxing corporate department absolutely sucks.
Boxing on TV is so fragmented now and Al Haymon is making things worse. Al Haymon can earn his fighters a lot of money but they need to create new strategies to bring boxing back to the market.

Boxing itself needs to be collectively rebranded. Honestly, Mayweather damaged the brand with his rubbish match vs Pacquiao.

Mayweather was great for PPV because he had a long, established success and built it by outshining the stars like DLH, Mosley etc. on a personality level. He was like a re****ed version of Connor McGregor but still was a huge draw because he found his own niche as the unbeatable, brash, rich guy who loved to be hated and was friends with 50 Cent when 50 was big. Something like that wasn't in the scene.

Has he never done one? I thought he was a P4P top ten fighter? Why hasn't he done one?

Ward's long awaited return to the ring after years out does..... 323,000! Unbelievable figures that's twice as many as GGG! That was almost double!

3 million households watched Golovkin live in Kazachstan, exacty 10 times more than Ward's 'comeback' on BET
