So what's the excuse for WALD turning his back on his opponent? You do that and you're going to get clocked in the back of the head from time to time. He has a glass chin and cannot cope with adversity, simple as that.
It was, though I was pretty pissed to see Peter lose his cool during a close match like that, he was clearly frustrated and made a very dumb mistake, lucky it didnt cost him on the scorecards.
Nonsense. No excuses, WALD has had years to unify the heavyweight division and still hasn't done it. He was only the crappy WBO champion when Lewis was around and wasn't even deemed worthy of a title shot - he was in the same boat as Ruiz and Byrd, just not an interesting enough fight. When did he actually get 2 of the belts, against Ibragimov was it? Hardly impressive, 2 belts at 32 and one of those is the least meaningful of the 4 'major' belts.
even ledderman, a notorious wlad hater, gave him a lot of credit yesterday. lewis said wlad had a great performance and liked the way he finished. that tells you how delusional his ESB haters are. Lewis even said Wlad was head and shoulders above the rest of the division including Haye. I'll lend more credability to Britain's greatest boxer than to the opinions of the lunactic haye lovers/wlad haters :deal Lennox lewis knows what he's talking about
Well the guys on Setanta said he looked like ****, and is a bum. Not in those exact words but that's what they said in essence.
So if Brewster never won the fight with punches, explain this please? A sharp gust of wind, perhaps :huh This content is protected
Watch a young George Foreman and tell me what you think, he was as raw as Sam Peter, and his punches commonly met the back of his fighters heads. Watch a little of Bowe, his overhand right made contact with plenty of his oppenents back of there head. When you have a fighter that throws extremely hard punches, sometimes there oppenents will do just about anything to avoid there punches, turn there backs, duck below the waist, or just plain clinch, I do believe if you turn your back in a fight, you do deserve what you get.
Watch the Peter fight again. WALD was not only turning his head in clinches. He got hit behind the head because he was in trouble and trying to turn away. A novel approach to defence I'll admit but blaming the guy for catching you on the back of the head when you do it is ever so slightly unfair.
Lennox Lewis > Balding Steven Bunce :yep :yep :yep Those guys on Sentana are British nuthuggers who cannot get past their bias. Lewis is a true professional and can put his British pride aside and make objective judgements. Lennox Lewis is the best, he lays them all to rest
I'd just like to add that Wlad did a professional job on the weekend. But "The Tiger" was awful. Flatfooted, plodding, and the very epitome of the word 'ponderous'. He occasionally trundled out a jab, and very very occasionally an extremely slow and very very wide left hand. And that was it. Besides from operating at 'slow' as opposed to 'very slow' in the first couple of rounds, that was it. Maybe Wlad deserves a bit of credit for making him retreat into his shell, but I've seen more fire in a damp squib than in 'the Tiger'.
Please feel free to read the thread again and point out to me where I said Haye would KO WALD and be the saviour of the division? I never said that, you did. I merely pointed out to the anti-Haye posters that Haye took 21 fights to do what WALD still hasn't done in 50+ fights. It obviously struck a nerve :good Lewis didn't say that Haye couldn't beat WALD he said he isn't ready for him right now. He was right to say that because Haye needs to beat some heavies, obviously.
I know it's illegal, but your not allowed to turn your back in a fight either, it's like driving on the wrong side of the rode and getting mad because you got hit head on, what the hell do you thinks going to happen. Peter is not the most accurate or fluid puncher in the world, but when a guy gives you nothing but the back of the head most of the night, theres bound to be a rabbit punch. Now lame fighters like Maskeav try and make it like Peter's hitting them behind the back, just because they cant go toe to toe with Peter, even Manny Steward said Maskaev wasnt getting rabbit punched and admitted on air that night that him and Wlad never had a problem with Peter's punches during the Wlad fight, if Wlad's own trainer could admit Peter's punches are fine, why cant you?
