The point is, champ loses belt in embarrassing fashion, needs to redeem himself, loses negotiating leverage.

    YDKSAB. End of story. :good

Larouche looks confident, borderline annoyed at 11:10 when Buffer introduces Bute. Priceless. :D

He also tells Bute "Do you want to remain the champ? What you're doing is not what we talked about, it's not our plan, Lucian. Give him angles." between R2 and R3. Then Bute proceeds to land jab, left hook, right hook, straight left combinations in the third, luring Andrade in with his hands kept low. Very fluid & calculated.

...except Bute didn't lose. Beat the count, man... 95% of fighters out there wouldn't have managed it in his position. Wasn't sexy at all, but Bute's heart won him the fight.

It's no surprise that Badlok comes on and brings a bit of integrity to proceedings.
He proved it was an off night in the return. What's wrong with admitting he was extremely lucky first time round?

    I don't know.

A very well respected poster on this site (probably the most well respected) INSISTED for over a week that YPH was "robbed" out of a KO1 vs. Cunningham. Odds are he'd contradict himself with this case...

It's a win for Bute, but just like JMM gets kudos and respect for his SD and MD losses to Pac and Vitali gets credit for his mid rounds defeat to Lennox, Andrade deserves respect and the bout should be accompanied always with a reminder of the finish.

He's not the only one. You gotta admit though, when extremists or mentally challenged posters post derogatory one-liners on the fact he "lost", it can be annoying even for men of integrity.

We were talking about how things would have been different for Andrade had he won. I'm saying he would have gotten a big payday, way more than he ended up getting. Plus long term, he'd be a more valuable commodity even with the immediate loss of title in the rematch. Promoters love serving up used up former champs to up and comers, looks good on paper.

The video doesn't show how much time is left in the round, but it's obvious Bute beat the ten count. If the round was indeed over when he got up, then I don't see the controversy as it's clear Bute should have been ruled the winner.

No, he means Bute was out on his feet, and the ref should have stopped the fight long before the count even started.

    Which is obvious.

It doesn't matter if Bute dominated the next fight, or if Bute is a god fighter at all. what matters is:

1: As Lester P said above, how would you like to have been Andrade after this? He deserved the payday, and the good fights that would have come from it.

2: IT IS CLEAR THAT BUTE HAS A SERIOUS HOME TOWN ADVANTAGE. - And I don't mean "the support of his fans." That ref was obviously paid off, and we can assume that the judges were as well. - And we can assume that it's been the same with every fight he's had in Canada.

IB got excited with the KD, Steve got up like the warrior he is. Maybe a mild influence from the fact he had vCash on YPH. :D

Ironically, Brinkley was given a very long count in round 5 here... nobody complained. Nobody said it should have been Bute KO5. Goes down with 20 secs left, up around 8 secs left in the round. Guy was in agony.

Sure. Let's forget all about the fact Andrade had never been KO'ed, that Bute's body work is some of the best in the business. All that matters is round 12 of the first Andrade fight, let's hate him and focus on that.

    :-( :rofl

The ref & judges were paid off? "We can assume" that? Look at you lil keyboard policeman.

Marlon B. Wright has not reffed one Bute fight in Quebec since the 2nd Andrade fight. Haters gon hate. :good

He didn't need to be paid off. If you're a ref from Montreal, what more could you hope for than repeated Bute assignments?

Of course he hasn't reffed a Bute fight since, it'd would be bad publicity. Plus any self respecting opponent would not approve him.
