NoKelley-hamed is not the Hagler-Hearns of the featherweights as neither one is remotely close to elite as Hagler-Hearns were. But the best part is that someone like you would try to make that point while you're getting laughed off these boards. To say that there is nothing to suggest that MAB could handle a prime hamed indicates that you're clueless considering that hamed never beat anyone close to MAB's level. But keep posting clueless *******
I don`t know. There`s always something someone has to say to disparage one of Britains greatest fighters.Trash talk like he was classless, vastly overrated.Any stupid mong that keeps saying that just STFU.
Don`t know if he was ever as good as the great Mexican you mentioned but i laughed my arse off when some proper knnob on ESB was talking about Naz ducking luisito Espinoza when he got ko`d by Augie Sanchez in 4 when Naz blasted Augie out in 4 in the fight JUST before that.Naz was a legend, beat a couple of really credible fighters EVEN BEFORE his first world title. He looked a natural at beating Armando Castro on his way up,Castro has been in multiple world title fights before, that showed Hameds class from then on.:good
pretentious writing that says "hey look at me" instead of offering any original insights on a topic that's been done many times before. Poorly paraphrased rehash does not a journalist make. Great article.
Pink *******s want a pink lollipop. Crazy, maybe insane, crush the sugar-coated rumors and eat the wounds of dead wolves that passed to the afterlife. Maybe I'll choo, but there is no guarantee that warranty is still in full effect. Or is it?
No.Hamed ducked JMM for at least 1 1/2 years and when he finally challenged JMM,he expected JMM to be ready in a unrealistic short time.In other words,he wasn't ever serious about JMM.And based on what performance is Hamed "H2H one of the greatest featherweights of all time"?And the Hamed fans on these boards are annoyed when I claim he's overrated?!
Hamed was a classless ******* that happens to be vastly overrated by his fans.Just read Azzer85's last post
I wouldn't put him in the same class as Tyson when it comes to blowing everything matey. I mean Hamed is still rich. But i agree he could've had a better career than what he ended up with. He had the talent and punching power to become the ATG he wanted to be. I used the word hindsight, because we and Hamed himself were'nt to know how far Naz had regressed as a fighter, even though it was right infront of us for some time. He should of went to the US a couple of years earlier, while he was still a very ambitious and hungry fighter who wasn't just relying on the KO to pull himself out of the ****. Like i said before Naz was one of a kind and will be remembered fondly by a lot of people. I was a big fan who thought his career was still good, a 2 weight world champ, who fought some good names and KO'ed most of em while giving us quality entertainment while doing it. Is there anyone about now who does what he done? I was just dissapointed he packed it in while still young and didn't give it another go. But in fairness to him the hunger had gone.
I dont mean money, i meant career/legacy wise. Tyson fired Rooney who was taught by CUs Damato, whose Peak a boo style took Tyson to the top. Hamed got rid of Ingle, the man who moulded his unique style. Both starte relying on raw power to win fights, and hey it works against lower opposition, but when your fighting an elite fighter, those guys will take advantage of this, Like MAB and Holyfield. Dude had awesome power Same as Tyson, We saw him "destroy" Bruno and blow away Carl Williams, but no one could see the cracks that had appeared. Hamed was getting his ass handed to him by Augie Sanchez before the Barerra fight, only his power saved him. Home run shots are normally supposed to be the last resort, not plan A. Same here, MAB fought a very smart fight, and remember, he changed his tactics before this fight, no one expected him to box like that. I think Hamed would have beat the more aggressive Morales and JMM. Hamed bought fame to the lower weights, dude made millions, he was signed with Addidas,Playstation etc, even had his own game. Hamed, was HUGE.
Good article but again.... excuses for Hamed. Hamed was a good exciting fighter. No more, no less. He was never going to beat MAB. He quit the sport after one elite match up and eventual defeat. If Hamed was not peak vs MAB because he was lazy then for a dude who has not beaten a true elite fighter to be lazy at that point of his career means the dude is not really elite himself. He was at his physical peak. If you are going to argue he is not his mental peak, then you are opening the counter argument that he is really not good considering he was in his 20s, very low wear-n-tear and should have been motivated in facing a true elite that can significantly elevate his status.
Barerra wasnt no ATG himself at the time, he only became that AFTER beating Hamed. The whole reason Hamed didnt train is because neither he nor anyone took MAB seriously after the Junior Jones losses. Hamed never respected MAB but he respected Morales much more
So you are saying that he did not respect MAB, the person who had an SD fight vs a guy he a lot of respect for? Makes perfect sense.... And no, Barrera was no ATG after Hamed. His ATG status was his battles with EM and his accomplishments previous and immediately after Pac. Every excuse for Hamed basically is describing a mentally weak individual. You guys are not doing Hamed any favors. It is only half that Hamed was defeated by a true elite, which you guys continually make excuses for, but he never did anything AFTER one defeat. He was still in his 20s who had no-to-little wear and tear. MAB went from very good to ATG after initial defeat. In some cases more than 1. So did EM So did JMM So did Pac And that is where Hamed belongs - 1 or 2 levels below these fighters. He was a young prime fighter who was defeated soundly by his first true elite match-up but to make it even worse - he could not get up from it like true great fighters do.
You can check out his interviews, he said he thought Morales won their fight. The whole reason he hardly prepared for MAB is because he had no respect for him and didnt consider him to be a threat. If thats the case, why was Hamed considered the favourite going into the fight. Pac came AFTER Hamed and BEFORE Hamed MAB had losses to Junior Jones (who?). Its not about wear and tear, its about desire, if Hamed had numerous sponsorship deals, was unified FW champ for a number of years with millions in the bank, whats left for him? nothing, he had no desire left to carry on. Hamed was already finished before his first defeat. The timing of a defeat is important. If its earlier in your career thats fine u can come back from it, if youve already unified the titles, cleaned out most of the division, ruled a number of years, a defeat means a lot more. Defeat + lack of desire + bad hands + lots of money= time to hang them up. Thats your opinion. IMO He knocks Marquez and Paciao out. The first true elite fighter he fought, he fought him at the end of his career, where had already begun to show signs of vulnerablity, his previous fight was a great example showing that cracks were beginning to show. See Augie Sanchez fight.
