    It's either A or B:

I think B is more likely than A because Bhops could beat a fellow have-been NAME and still make ALMOST as much money as against JC - who would beat him...unless Bhops thinks he can lose a close decision against Joe and use it to argue that he would have beaten Joe in his prime - and as such, he hadn'd ducked him previously - Joe was just not good enough/enough of a draw then.

I hope it's B for the sake of Joe, because A is simply just not acceptable from his point of view. He needs to fight whoever is best right now...and shouldn't be trying to tart his own resume up.

Only thing I am worried about is what Enzo Calzaghe said: "Joe's legacy is secure and cannot be cemented/enhanced further" - clearly, he was trying to pull a fast one on us, but we're not buying it.

We (his fans) have faith in Joe and want him to fight the best because we still think he needs to - and indeed can - cement/enhance his legacy to be recognised to his true value by the objective historians of the future. To do so, he needs to fight the best out there at 168-175. Joe said he wants to fight 2 more fights...then, he should fight whoever was the best and most dangerous to him at 168-175 out there in each of his fights, if he still wants to cement/enhance his legacy!

    I'd say probably A...

You have got to relax about this whole legacy thing. Kessler fights don't solidify legacies. He will need to change weight classes, fight recognized world/linear champions, fight HOFers, etc. And if he does that, I'll give all the credit in the world to Calzaghe...

Dude Calzaghe drew 50000 fans in his last fight, Hopkins is not the draw here.

Calzaghe already has a better legacy in terms of real accomplishments. The problem with legacies is how much they are the result of media presence and PR. Calzaghe has not lost a fight since age 17, this is probably a unique record in the history of boxing. He never had controversial win, ALL of his ins were clear. Hopkins lost his first fight, no shame in losing to a prmie RJJ, but his performances against Taylor were medioce and the win agains Wright was controversial and he would have lost without his excessive fouls. While Trinidad and DHL were big stars, they were mediocre at middleweight, so wins over them are no great accomplishment for Hopkins, just very good PR. Lacy was certainly better at SMW than DHL or Trinidad at MW and the one - sided beating Calzaghe gave him was one of the greatest wins against a pre - fight favorite in boxing ever. Kessler is a much better fighter than Tarver, so Calzaghe's win over him means more than Hopkin's win over Tarver. Hopkins had a good career but Calzaghe is truly great, never came close to losing, eve against the best in his division.

wasn't Calzaghe's win vs Reid controversial and at least very close? Not that this is too bad as Reid get underated, but still i'm sure i've read several places that this fight was very close and a disputable decision.

I was the one who suggested it might have been, having not watched it...But then I watched it and Joe won it by 2-3 rounds, including the 1 point docked from Reid for fouling repeatedly.

Does Joe really want to fight Bhops? Why would he? Doesn't think much of him at all! He says he is not one of the best LHWs...

Calzaghe won the first 4 or 5 rounds with ease, then injured his hand.

Reid a few rounds later was also deducted a point.

This amounted to an insurmountable lead.

Whist score wise it was close Calzaghe won about 115-113, the result was never actually despite the injured hand.

Calzaghe never looked like losing once he'd demonstrated his invincible chin.

    Fame and money.

And legacy. Like it or not, idiots will dictate your legacy. And that is all that matters.

So unless Calzaghe is a Hare Krishna devotee then he wants to fight Hopkins.

Why would Bhop want to fight Joe if he is bound to lose? He can make money fighting a has-been NAME from the States, instead!

Calzaghe is a top payday for Hopkins. Money in such abundence will tempt him.

But he is ****ing scared of Calzaghe's abilities. That is beyond doubt.

B-Hop doesn't, thus why it won't happen. Hopkins shot himself in the foot calling out Calzaghe.
